Had about 40-50 here. Not bad, especially since we live right near U of A and the neighbourhood is almost all students. We agreed halfway through to stop giving out as much candy as we were, since it seemed we wouldn't have enough, but were never actually able to do it. Luckily, we ended up OK since things started to slow down early.
Didn't hear a lot of "trick-or-treat" either, but man were the kids ever polite. One kid, probably 10 or so, actually said (word for word) "It's been a pleasure trick-or-treating with you tonight." Haha, what?

The wife and I only had about 12 trick or treaters...all of which I couldn't tell what the hell their costumes were. Halloween and candy are quickly becoming a thing of the past

Nah, just depends where you live (as others have said). I remember the streets being packed like a traffic jam as a kid, but haven't lived in a neighbourhood of young families since. I think that's what counts. I mean, seriously, it's fun and there's free candy. Kids'll still be into that in 2106.
Oh, and I'd just like to throw in my support for both red, and (horrors) black nibs. But I'm one of those weirdos who actually likes black licorice.
