the assault rifle that was used in the dawson college shooting in montreal was owned and registered legally to that kimveer gill chap or whatever his name was.

sure you might not be able to get your hands on ANYTHING your little heart desires but....

I would agree that...that weapons has no real purpose other than maybe collection value. That weapon is still semi-automatic and limited to 10 bullets per magazine. A good weapons handler....however, can go through those 10 rounds pretty fast and reload just as fast as firing them off.

What I don't get is why the parents allowed this kid to have these weapons. Also...it goes to show that registration does nothing to prevent these kind of crimes.

It's basically the exact same as your standard semi-automatic hunting rifle though, except it has a shorter barrell, which makes it less-acurate. It may LOOK like an asault rifle, but it is really a far ways from it.

By the way, a pump action rifle (a shot gun is a popular pump-action, but it is not a rifle) is a faster action than a semi-automatic in the arms of someone that knows how to use it - and not to mention, more accurate.

His parents signed the firearms registration form for him showing that he was responsible. They could have said...no firearms in the house...or atleast no semi auto rifles.
