Pretty weak third episode in my opinion. Seemed like filler with no real conflict.

I enjoyed it once again.

I like the Amanda Peet character too, and I've never liked her before.

I thought it was a very good episode. Sorkin's shows always have great dialogue and this one has some real quick throwaway lines that some people might miss.

This show is making me miss Sportsnight and (Sorkin's) The West Wing less.....

I just caught the third episode. I liked it. I wasn't blown away by it, but I definitely liked it. It was solid writing and acting. I am still not sold on Harriet. I just don't see this woman as being funny at all. I think they cast the wrong actress.

To be honest, I also did not like the third episode. While there were some good moments, I found it to be a transition episode. I think next week will be really good with some added conflict going on.

I have really enjoyed the show so far; unfortunately, it's tanking in the ratings:

Kidnapped was reviewed well, but looks to be toast after 13 episodes.

OK, this is still one of the best shows I've seen in a long time.

Why do people not like well written, intelligent shows?

It may be difficult for most to understand. Last weeks episode for example had refrerences to that old guys boss naming names and his friends and coworkers being blacklisted. Somone that knows nothing about McCarthyism would not understand the importance of the old guy and the characters interest in him.

You're probably right, but I appreciate a show that assumes I have an IQ > room temperature.

Thats the problem, the viewers in the US don't enjoy shows where people don't get killed or have constant permiscuios sex. A show that is dialouge basied like Studio 60 (or Sorkin's West Wing) will struggle finding a main stream audiance because joe buck in little rock with a nilson box thinks the show has "too much talking" and "not enough enough explotions". Smart shows just don't last on American TV.

The sad thing is that when the show gets cancelled (and that's probably soon), it will most likely be replaced by another stupid reality/game show.

Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled. Sports Night was one of my favourite shows and when ABC dropped it, I believe HBO or Showtime picked it up. I couldn't see any season on those stations being in Canada but at least I could buy the DVD.

I am finding this show overly boring.

There is no season story arc which is hurting it right now. No recognizable goal for any of the characters over the course of the season. They just seem to be going to work and doing their job. Boring.

About to be cancelled:

http://jam.canoe.ca/Television/TV_Sh...1/2185782.html

By the time you read this it probably will be official. Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip will be cancelled by NBC.

Getting pulled this Monday night to test low-rated rookie Friday Night Lights in the time slot was the kiss of death. The season's most hyped (and expensive) drama crashed and burned because of high expectations and low ratings, always a killer combo.

Studio 60 started out last month with some 14 million U.S. viewers but has slid to fewer than 8 million.

Interesting. I think its a solid show but not nearly as good as Sportsnight or West Wing (when it was under Sorkin's control).

But it's strange - I would suggest that overall the quality of new shows this season has been better than in recent years, but most of those good shows (Kidnapped, Smith, Studio 60, Friday Night Lights) have been or will be cancelled.

Maybe the general public just has bad taste in shows.

It seemed like there were too many potentially good shows this year. It seemed to have split the "early-adopter-viewer" audience too thin, so that none of them survived.

I have to admit, I often catch up on the new shows a year after they debut, when they look like they'll be worth the investment.

I think the network TV model is almost incapable of supporting an edgy show any more (if they ever really were). It is odd that they try so hard, and put so much money into the initial launch of these shows, only to give up on them so quickly.

Part of it is the itchy trigger finger. Many of tv's great shows needed time to find and build their audiences (Seinfeld is a great example). Now, networks make decisions too quck. The pattern is:
1. Show debuts, struggles
2. After a few weeks (as few as 2) show is moved to a different time slot....perhaps the graveyard known as Saturday)
3. Show is put in "hiatus"
4. Show is cancelled

This all happens within 1.5 months - no time to build an audience. For the networks they can easily replace these shows on their schedule with the vastly cheaper to produce Dateline NBC, another night of the game-show of the moment, or a cheap reality show. These shows are so cheap to make in comparison to an hour long drama that its making it impossible for dramas to get a fair chance.

I think Kidnapped got killed by having a similar, and vastly inferior program, debut ahead of it (Vanished on Fox).

It's too bad because it really is a top notch show that never got a chance.

It will come out on DVD though, and the writers have been given to episode 13 to wrap up the storyline. So for folks that didn't watch it - rent the DVD when it comes out and you'll have 13 episodes of great TV to watch.

Ah well.

this sucks, it was just getting more interesting. The last episode with a 90 year old Eli Wallach as a guest start was a good one.

First time I watched "West Wing" I was hooked. First time I watched Studio 60 I lasted barely 15 minutes -- Tried it one other time and ZILCH. A pity because I like some of the actors and figured the show would be good but it was just boring.
