Really? Well that's a pretty sweaping statment don't you think?
Some of the most humble people I have ever met, were and are, religious.
I don't have the answers for myself, but I think writing off lots of relgious people as self-righteous is pretty shallow thinking..

it's hard not stereotyping but I left my religion because of all the self righteous hypocrites. Sure there was good humble people but I couldn;t stand they people who weren't. Religion also causes too many wars and problems. That's why I don't have a religion.

How is that a sweeping statement? I didn't say most or all, I said lots, meaning more than a few.
I've been involved in church life most of my childhood and adult life, so I've met many many people. Some as you say are truely humble. Some use fake humility as a passive agressive weapon against others.
It's a cross section, just like life. However in my experiences I've seen more self-righteousness out of people who think they have the one true path than others who don't. It'd be another interesting thing to study anyway.

It would be an intersting thng to study, I agree. My point would only be that there would only be the same amount of self righteous people in religion in such things as politics, government, business and charities - that's all.. Self righteousness is a human factor, not specific to religion.
**there are probably more self righteous people involved in politics than religion**

Yup and crazy because they are genuine. If you go to New York you'll find little booklets of them distributed on the subway...at least you did when I was there. Table5 can tell us if they are still around.

The thing I can never get over with this religion is the blood thing. Just imagine that your infant son/daughter needs a simple blood transfusion and you sit there ad don't allow it, and just watch your child die. I can't imagine being that delusional. If they think god created everything, us included, he (god) obviously gave us enough intelligence to figure out how to save another human life via blood transfusion/organ donation, yet we are supposed to NOT do it? WTF!?! Idiots. All of them. They will feel the wrath of Frank every chance I get!

Wanna hear something freaky about that religion? They believe that 44,000 people are going to heaven. The rest of the believers are going to some place that may not be as cool as heaven, but is better than hell. Actually, IIRC it's earth, post apocalypse.
So yeah, the 44,000. God let's you know if you're one of them, and dad believes that he is. So he's a special JW. So special in fact, that he had his daughter (my ex) booted from the religion for dating me. (Actually, it was because he was recording the phone calls in the house, and she was telling her friend about our first or second date and that we fooled around a little in my car afterward). (god only knows what he'd do if he knew what we did since then).
Stupidest. Religion. EVER.
Dad and mom got divorced a couple of years ago. Huh, guess not all is well in paradise.

Actually I think that number is 144,000. If I remember my World Religions class correctly.

If you son could only live using stem cells would you do it? Not trying to start and argument here, I don’t have a kid so I cannot understand the bond between you and your child but just wanted to know

Yeah... You're probably right. I do remember thinking something about multiples of 12... Whatever the case, they've got a set number of people going to heaven. Pretty strange if you ask me. I guess god picks who is worthy, but I'm not sure if they can play their way in thru serious devotion or whether it's just a predetermined thing.
And cheese, a wooden stick?

We recently had one of these acts just up Hwy #4 from you Frank. Local Bethel Pentacostal Assembly doubles as a Pro-Life Headquarters. One of their finest zealots called in Pro-life supporters from Toronto, London and Kitchener to picket a local highschool. Their reason for targetting this highschool was, "because the highest age group, girls 15 to 19-years-old, are likely to have abortions "(what has this got to do with this small community school....). They showed up one morning, and picketted the bus area, with 4' placards depicting bloody, aborted fetuses. Even worse, this school shares the bus system with 2 local elementary schools, and a special education school. Young kids, and developmentally challenged individuals were witness to it all, and a few were quite traumatized. When questioned about the innocent people victimized by their display, a co-organizer Ms. Bartz ( a homeschooling mother of 12) replied 'the images got the reaction they were designed to create - to stimulate conversation.' The other co-organizer, Rosemary Connel, said their organization has studied different age groups and the “little kids didn’t notice it.”
One group that sponsered the demonstration is the Show the Truth organization which holds protests of this nature across Ontario.

I'd kill every living creature on this planet to save my sons life. So ya, the bond is a tad strong.

I think I'd have a hard time refraining myself from beating them to death with their own picket signs. Morons. Total disregard for anything but their cause.
