Well as far as game play goes its seems that all has been said but
1. If a player is old, and there are not what they where in there prime, they shouldn’t be rated in the game like they still in there prime, example Brian Leecth in the last game was like and 85! And Bert Hull was in the Mid 80’s as well, there where good once but there rating should drop relative to there present skill level

The music in the game is whatever gets pushed by the band's respective publishers and whatever is cheap for EA.
Faith No More was cool last year, that's about it.
I turn off all the music anyways.

If you don't like the music...get a 360 where you can play the music on your hardrive in the game.

It was '05, but you and I both know we could chat for hours about problems in these games Rogan. Clark Bass won't even play them.

Goalies can get hurt in a non-violent manner...think about Kari Lehtonen and his jello groins.

anyone know why this is in place? Probably some rule of the NHLPA I guess. It's weird though because the other games have the rookies (Madden, Live, MVP).

There actually exists a CFL '99 PC game (not by EA). I don't reccomend it though, the game was kind of bush league.

There's also a program you can download for the PC version that lets you replace the music.

True but they still wont put goalie injuries back in because of the whole image thing. It's pretty dumb though that the NHL has no problems letting players get hurt but not goalies. If EA did it right it would rarely happen. The version they did have it in it was pretty nuts how often goalies got injured.

I don't believe it. I think it has more to do with the programming than anything. For instance, if you reduce your roster size to 18 skaters, you won't see an injury to your team because it would put you below the limit. Similarily you can only carry three goalies, and the game doesn't allow injuries to goalies.
They should make injuries more like Madden, where the game stops and forces you to aquire a new QB (or whatever) to maintain a roster minimum.
If it was the NHL cracking down on violence, you'd think they'd want to have the slash combo removed (look it up in the manual). It is tough to execute but if you start slashing you are guarenteed to injure a few opponents a game. This is way more violent than a Vokoun blood clotting condition.

Yes indeed. and it'll be awesome to hear "Huge shot by Phaneuf!" while playing the game. I have him in NHL 06 with a fan made cyberface it's awesome. No play by play though.
There will be no blood... that much is certain. The NHL and PA would never allow that.
Just reading through everything here, you wonder why it's so hard for EA to consistently release a "perfect hockey game" People's taste are so varried. They try to capture a bit of what everyone wants in their games.

I say they go the extra mile: Add Phaneuf, get Gord Miller and Pierre Maguire to do play by play and colour, that way Pierre choose Phaneuf as his monster every game.

I do think they need a new refreshing Play by play team... but Gord Miller and MacGuire??? No thanks....
I'd love to have Cuthbert on there.

Steve Armitage doing some pre-game build-up would be awesome.

Don't they have Jim Hughson right now? Am I the only who thinks Hughson is a good announcer when he's not being a Canucks homer?

I don't think we need pre game build up... I mean how old would that get? You'd watch/listen to it twice before you got bored of it. When you play at least 300 games a year those kind of novelties are really a waste of development time.
