Outside of the Territories, doesn't Edmonton also have the country's highest suicide rate? I guess it's not such a good thing to boast about when all the tourists that come there, kill themselves before they have a chance to leave.

"The Capital Health region experiences a higher suicide rate not only in Canada but on an international scale as well. In 1999, Edmonton recorded a rate of 15.7 suicides per 100,000 people, while Calgary's numbers were slightly lower at 13.2. The completed suicide rate has been up to 80 per cent higher in Edmonton than elsewhere in the province over the last 15 years," said Dr. Patrick J. White, Capital Health Regional Clinical Program Director, Mental Health. "Internationally, if you compare us on a World Health Organization level, we rank higher than some European cities."
