As to the hell bit, just because you say someone is going to be punished if they don't change doesn't mean you're preaching hate against them.
I think litterers should be punished, but that doesn't mean I think everyone should hate them. If it's boorish for me to suggest you don't like Catholics, why is it perfectly fine for you to suggest that the church preaches hate against those they disagree with, or is this just another example of what appears to be the humanis attitude of condemning people for doing exactly what it is you yourself do?
As for some of the horrible things in the catholic's church's past, I'm fully aware of them, in fact i alluded to that in a previous post. But again, those acts were abuses that did not follow the spirit or modern teachings of the church.

Again, you sound mysteriously like a Priest to me. It seems for someone who thinks they are closer to an Atheist view, you come out sounding much more like a fundamentalist. Just because someone does not like Theism does NOT mean they are against the Theists as people.
The unfortunate thing about organized religion—all religions—is the fundamentalists within it who won’t be satisfied until all people accept their way of life and worship; and they are willing to go to violent extremes to achieve that goal. When this “religious” element’s “moral values” become the basis for governmental involvement and the policies which follow, the innocents of the world community ends up suffering.
That includes you and me and all of those who blindly follow along.
If Christianity and other Theisms were founded on myth, then why teach them as fact? Why feed fuel to the fire?

Truth be told, me beliefs problay aren't that far from Cheeses, and the only part I take exception with is his "I need to prove that what you belive is wrong" attitude.
As for acknowleging the norm, Cheese made a blanket statement that relgion promotes hate. He also claims to hold to the scientific method which is one exception proves the assumption wrong.
He's my exception, the Dalli Lamma. Therefore he's wrong.
Some religions promote hate, fine I'll accept that, but the blanket statements that they all do is wrong.

Exactly BBS. Cheese is a fundamentalist Atheist. Ironic eh? Give him a break though, obviously somehting happened in his childhood related to religion that has scarred him thusly.
Religions can and do spread hate - what gets me is that he will not condemn racism, nationalism, tribalism or anything else fo that matter. To him the ONLY thing wrong with humanity is religion. That is so asinine it is hilarious. I brought up communism and he said something liek Stalin wasn't a 'true' practitioner of communism and that he went to religious school when he was young so that somehow 'disqualifies' him from the hmanist train of thought. I'd love to see an example where communism with it's lack of religion HAS created paradise on earth though.

Well isnt this a pretty post. Too bad you havent got a clue what you are talking about.
Im not going to go through it again....because i have at least 25 times now...so go back and research other posts to find out that nothing happened to me as a child....I made up my mind all on my own with free thought process. This is unlike those who follow theisms and must FOLLOW a brand.
The rest of your crap is so blatantly stupid I just about laughed my arse off.

Pretty sure I meant ignorant.
ig·no·rant ( P ) Pronunciation Key ( g n r- nt)
adj. - Lacking education or knowledge.
- Showing or arising from a lack of education or knowledge: an ignorant mistake.
- Unaware or uninformed.
That post contained all three of those definitions. Either that or some major sarcasm flew over my head.

Where I'm going Cheese is that the world would NOT be paradise on earth if it weren't for religion.
Most of the bad things that happen in today's society have nothing to do with religion and everything to do with humanity's flaws. I know that's hard for a humanist to take, but it's the truth.

True.
Don't try and tell me that religion doesn't have a generous amount of blood on it's hands though.

You don't think Cheese is as adamant of the 'truth' of his atheism as a JW missionary in Ghana is with Jesus? He is fundamentalist in his belief of Atheism and hates all things that contradict that, namely theism.

Of course it does. I am just against someone targeting that as the ONLY issue and humans are naturally 'good' if were only not for religion.
What about Statism? Jealousy? Hatred? Racism?

I was mainly referring to this:

And I was hoping it wasn't a blanket statement pertaining to all atheists, agnostics, etc.

Much of these were derived from religion.

Cheese, you have an Atheist quote in your signature. Your avatar is eating a Christian symbol. You have an atheist banner and link too. I'd bet 90% of your off topic posts concern religion or atheism.

So is it your position that without religion these things would not exist?
