The latest generation of 3M is very thin, and when you wax overtop of it you can barely (or not at all) tell it is there (depending on your viewing angle). I highly recommend one, cars chip more easily these days with the water-based paints the factory uses.

Better than the alternative in this city....

Check the car to see if the etching is done already, my salesman tried to sell it to me on the last Mazda we bought and he said it was already done. I asked him why I should pay for it. Remember, the etching (if already done) acts as a theft deterrent whether you pay for it or not.
