They added allot of strength to area's of weakness. Jays needed more capable hitting plus they needed a power bat in the line-up. Jays also needed a Closer and another strong arm in the starting rotation.
Overbay at first
Glaus at 3rd
AJ as the second starter
BJ as the closer
Molina as the Catcher.
I really like the addition of Molina, to bring in a good catcher (Former gold glove winner) is a great move. He will help the pitchers.

Should have said with Glaus older and a history of injuries is what worried me about him.
Hey the moves could very well work out and I realise that these are the types of moves Riccardi has to make as he can't sign the Damons and Beltrans of the world.
I just think that Jays have a lot of questions going into the season this year and need a lot to go right and that most of the pick ups seem to have good to great potential but also have a higher level of risk than many other free agents.

Well the Jays got the win today, 6-3.
Overbay is really looking like a solid #5 hitter, one of the best the Jays have had in a long time.
Gustavo Chacin pitched 6 2/3 allowing 3 ER and got the win. Struck out 4 walked just 1.
BJ Ryan with another scorless 9th inning earning his 2nd save in as many tries.
The Jays play Tampa tomorrow at the Rogers Centre. A very dissappointing crowd of 16000+ watched todays game, I can't imagine tomorrow will be any better for the D-rays.

Well there was a Leafs game on last night. Friday night with no Leafs should lead to a bit better crowd. Once the Leafs season is over than the interest in the Jays will come back a bit. I mean you can tell Leaf fans that the Leafs are out of it all you like and the morons won't get it. This is the one fan base that can still be convinced that the Leafs can come back from 10 points back with 2 games left. It will take them three weeks of paying $150 to show up to the Air Canada center and realizing that nothing is going on to figure out that the Leafs are out of it. Than they'll realize that that money will get them into like 8 Jays games, and eventually they might just go there.

Great effort by the Jays in the last few games; so much offense throughout their lineup. Pitching still looks a touch shaky, but if their offense can keep up this sort of production, they're going to be tough te beat all year. It'll be exciting to see Burnett's first start today.

They are 6-6 and ready to face off against the Yankees tonight.
I am still optimistic about the Jay's althought the overall pitching is looking much weaker than I expected.
Anyone else think that Zaun has outplayed Molina up until now ? I am not saying Bengie is terrible but he looks so out of shape, plugs up the basepaths and doesn't do a great job on saving wild pitches ??

I'll bet 75% of the people in a mixed slow pitch beer league could out run Molina. He looks like the slowest runner in the history of baseball. But he does carry a pretty good stick at the plate. The offence has been good so far, but they need their pitching to come around here.

Jays with a nice win today over the Yanks.
One of the most encouraging developments of the young season is the hitting of Alex Rios who has developed the power stroke that formerlly has escaped him. 5 big flys so far this season and 14 RBIs. He has been hammered in the past by the media for his lack of pop so hopefully they give him his due now.

Didn't he only smack 5 all of last year? Man, he looks goooood out there. Should silence some of his critics, that's for sure.

He made a little adjustment to his stance, and whammo, the power arrived.
The Jays have the highest team batting avergae in the majors right now, and have the 2nd most HR's in the AL.

JP was hard after another OF in the off season too, looking that maybe the time had come to replace Rios. Great start to the season though.
The only thing you need to start questioning is his ability to hit Right handed pitching, which will make or break his career in the Majors. Career he has a .719 OPS in 645 ABs, which would make him a *decent* OF if he keeps hitting at that clip. But he really needs to improve on that this season if he wants a full time OF job in the Majors.
He only has 16 ABs this year vs. RHP (6 hits, 1 HR) - so time will tell whether or not he is a career platoon or amazing OF.
The thing is Right handed batters need to be better hitters than left handers to balance out their average. You just don't see as much Left handed pitching in the majors as you do Right handers.

I really like the additions of Glaus, Ryan, Molina, Overbay, and Burnett, I can't wait until Saturday when me and some buddies are driving down to the RC for our first Jays game this year, Lenny DiNardo is starting for Boston that game cause David Wells is still injured, Doc Halladay is gonna start for the Jays can't wait, and Friday nights game should be a dandy Beckett going for the BoSox, Burnett for the Jays, I guess we'll see who the better pick-up from Florida was.
Only bad thing will be, watching the Flames game on a hotel in downtown T.O., I hope I don't wake anyone up when the Flames score.
