That happened when society realized WHO a person is is more important than WHAT a person is.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack to the movie it really captured the mood of the various scenes which was all different flavours of melancholly and regret.
The last part of the movie when Innis goes to Jack's parents house is a great scene too. Wow, I can't imagine how hard it must have been to be gay in rural 60s America.
Oops I forgot, gay people suck.

So is the third CP raffle that my bf and I come over and give a hopelessly straight CP'er a life makeover--maybe help him impress his girl?

Better than anything on a bunch of the channels out there. Perhaps our own segment on "Flames TV"?

There was that Earl's commerical a couple of years ago where the guy was trying to "come out" at dinner, then the food arrived.
Caught a good deal of flak and was subsequently pulled.

There is nothing wrong with feeling UNCOMFORTABLE around homosexuals, as it is NOT normal ( if your a catholic) , hence the phrase HOMO-PHOBIC.
All a matter of opinion.

Is racism also just a matter of opinion?
Just curious where you draw your little lines about what is wrong and right and what other groups you are prejudice towards.

It is not just Catholicism, it is many other religions. I am Catholic, I am not homophobic. There are many other things that I don't beleive in that I am supposed to, times have changed. It is a more scientific, and progressive world, then it was when the bible was written.

I find it true that you're almost looked down upon if you HAVEN'T seen the movie.
I'm not homophobic in the slightest, in fact i have several homosexual friends, who i've known for many years. The simple fact is I don't give a damn weather its gay or not gay, or if its a good movie or bad movie. When i got to a movie, i want to be entertained for 2 hours.
Thats why I saw Doom instead of Crash. When i go out i like watching crappy entertaining movies.
Thats why I enjoyed Jet Li's "The One", more then "Hero."
I don't watch movies for the "good" factor. I love bad movies. And seeing how I don't get the chance to watch movies a lot, when i go, I go and see what I want to see.

Back to the movie...
Saw it last night finally. A few thoughts....
Ang Lee is a genius.
The Soundtrack was haunting.
Heath Ledger, not one of my favorite actors AT ALL, won me over. His performance was nothing short of outstanding.
Was uncomfortable during the first sex scene (as I think all straight guys would be) but the movie wasn't focussed on sex...though Gyllenhaal's character seemed to gravitate to that aspect of the lifestyle more than Leedger's. After the initial scene, I didn't find myself uncomfortable at all.
It was interesting to see what someone who can't (literally) be who they really are goes through. Ennis Del Mar seemed lost the whole film long. It was sad.
Great movie, better than I expected...and on a weekend that had me finally see Capote too, the fact I like Brokeback better says a lot given the constant state of awe that PS Hoffman puts me in.
