His contract ends this year.

I think everyone knows who Laine is: an oft injured enigma who, when healthy, gets 30-35 goals per year.
With when healthy being the operative portion.

Zharovsky would be amazing... would be fine with not getting a pick if he is part of the return

Laine's contract expires this year, and he's currently on IR. In a Kadri/Laine swap, the Flames are the ones coming out ahead, in terms of shedding cap.

My guess is Laine walks next season and gets a few PTOs, assuming he recovers from his injury. After that he could be Europe bound. Laine doesn't seem all that interested in playing in the NHL anymore. He's made a lot of money already too.

So you're saying they should trade us 2 firsts for saddling us with an expiring asset

Yeah I think it's a mental issue with Laine - some people just don't have that inner passion or drive for hockey once they make the show and get paid. Hell, I'd probably be one of those people if I had the god-given talent - once I made my millions and my life was set forever I'd probably struggle to gaf the way I used to.

Everyone just looking at the negatives with Laine.

Good ol optimistic ComixZone.

Injuries, struggling after he lost his Father…there’s human reasons why he’s struggled in recent years.

When he’s on, he’s a high end scorer. Flames will need goals to entertain fans next year.

We all thought Kuzmenko was done as well, and he looked great in the first year in Calgary... Laine might be a different story, but you never know what'll happen when a player gets plenty of first line powerplay time.

Except he needs a top end centre to feed him.

While Calagry can promises him ice time, they cannot promise him elite line mates.

Who cares about a month of Laine? The main thing is getting assets for Kadri. And if he needs to be included then that is fine.

LeBrun also said yesterday that the Habs are interested in Whitecloud. Could be a big trade if Whiteclould also part of the deal.

Yeah no kidding.

Guy that can only score on the PP or when set up on a team that can't transition the puck or find him open.

Being injured doesn't mean he can't hockey still.

What matters is how he bounces back when he is healthy again.

Given calgary's PP efficiency of late, a PP specialist wouldn't be the worst thing.

Does Laine have to waive trade protection to come to Calgary? Could get sticky.

I want Calgary to get a healthy Laine just so I can see that mug skating around every game.

Would be a great chance for him to redeem for a new deal somewhere next year.

I too would be happy with Zharovsky instead of a 1st.

They better offer up Hage if that's the case. I think the Whitecloud chatter is not coming to fruition since Weegar was dealt.
