I know you love the last word so I will give it do you but its a sure sign you are losing the debate on merit when you start trying to suggest the other posters are kindergarteners that you need to dumb it down for.
Maybe, don't get into a debate based on losing math...math is undefeated

No, I'm saying that ‘obvious subtext’ is just you making excuses for your own failure to communicate. I'm a professional writer and have been a semi-pro editor; I'm not a kindergartener. If I don't get what you mean from what you actually say, the chances are very good that you did not actually say what you meant.

Lol, you’re hilarious. These off the cuff forum posts are serious business. I’ll let the boss know that he should find someone else to write them because a collection of boomers aren’t picking up what the subtext of a post was. I’ll refund my thanks to Bingo first thing in the morning. I’m devastated that it’s come to this.
If no one catches the deep subtext, I’ve already said I don’t care. This is not the type of audience that’s going to deliver that. If anyone other than dinseven called for an explanation I would gladly expand but I’m highly entertained by you two. Though I should assume you won’t understand anything I’ve tried to say here.

You seem to think you have made some kind of point by beclowning yourself in this manner. You haven't.

Funny, you seem very keen to blame people for not catching the ‘deep subtext’, which, by the way, does not exist. As the author James D. Macdonald has said, ‘Subtext is a lie and a cheat of Satan.’ It is a way for incompetent English teachers to read particular meanings into works of literature that are not to be found in either the text or the author's intentions, and for incompetent communicators to claim that their communication was simply too aethereal and lofty for their stupid readers to understand.

My dear fellow, the only thing I don't understand about you is how you could come to believe you are more intelligent than other people. I suppose it is an advanced case of Dunning-Kruger syndrome, but surely there must be more to it than that.

Because you are attacking other posters' intelligence for not agreeing with your drivel. Now it appears your intelligence isn't even up to the task of reading a rebuttal.
Stand down, son. Your intellect is not tall enough for this ride.

You don't know the first damned thing about me. But I'll tell you this: absolutely nobody in my line of work, if they want to stay in that line, blames their readers for their own failure to express themselves clearly. In this matter, I speak as a professional.
It takes no ‘credentials or clout’ to know when I'm talking to a phony who can't express himself and has to fall back on calling his readers names.
Your insults don't even make sense. You call me ‘lap dog’; well, whose lap am I supposedly in? It's strictly meaningless.

This particular post is telling the reader that ‘topfiverecords’ is full of himself and full of crap; because that is what I am explicitly saying. There is no subtext.
Your posts frequently tell the reader that you don't know what you're talking about, and when called on it, you blame the reader for not understanding what you thought you meant instead of straightforwardly reading what you actually said. This is not subtext; this is the frequent pattern of your interaction with other posters.
Your failure to communicate is nobody's fault but your own.

I take it you think that's a telling insult. It certainly shows your own intellectual bankruptcy that you can't dispute any of my points, and merely fall back on a very poor attempt at abuse.

What you're saying would only make sense if I was declaring something to be a guarantee of what was going to happen.
That's not what I did. I simply made a prediction of what I thought was going to happen.
People making predictions is pretty normal... in fact, it's one of the most common things happening in today's world. And I had good reason to make the prediction that I did. The Knights have looked like hot garbage during their 3 game losing streak heading into last night's game. And they were down 3-1 against a playoff team, appeared to be heading for a 4th straight loss. Meanwhile the coilers were coming off an undeserved win where the refs were in their pocket... they're likely to get more undeserved wins going forward, as the league wants its golden boy in the playoffs and making another deep run. So that's why I thought the Knights were going to be passed in the near future.
No idea why you and dino accused me of saying they'd pass the Knights last night specifically. And brought up an irrelevant 10 game interval that I never mentioned.

If the Oilers are going to make the playoffs - I would want them or the Ducks to pass Vegas. So if Vegas doesn't win the cup - our pick is as early as possible.

Yup. Perfect scenario is the Ducks win the division. That way the VGS pick drops to the low 20s, unless they make the Conference finals - and if they do, then the Oilers didn't!

The 10-game interval is relevant, even if you can't see why. It shows how each team has been performing over a long enough stretch of games to cut down some of the noise of individual wins and losses. There's a reason why NHL.com gives each team's record for the last 10 games: it's a useful number.
We accused you of saying that they would pass the Knights last night because you claimed that was going to be the result of ONE game, without mentioning any other time interval. ONE game could not possibly produce that result. And if you are extrapolating a curve based on ONE game, you are doing it wrong.
