I will be voting against Rob Anders, and against Harper. Not for anyone.

Sounds like a great reason why it should be the #1 issue in a Federal election campaign then......

Yes.

Money flows the easiest course. By erecting non-competitive tax structures for both businesses and individuals, the NDP have built a dam around the province and the best and the brightest who can swim to shore are doing so.

Turning those tax dollars into utopian social services certainly isn't attracting the best and brightest now is it?

Why do they keep getting voted in?

Those who are left, get more than they give and there is a gap developing in the age group that would create wealth.

A link that's a little dated and probably slanted - although the stats are likely accurate - but illustrating the point.

Don't kid yourself. There's lots of oil in Sask as well... government policies just result in a whole heck of a lot less incentive to go and drill for it.

Actually, Harper said that Ottawa (read: the Liberals) created a culture of defeat in the Maritimes. He never said anything negative about Maritimers themselves.

British Columbia as well.

Alberta most certantly is wealthy because of our oil deposits, but we are not remotely close to being the only province that could be so wealthy because of oil. Saskatchewan is just now learning. Newfoundland and Nova Scotia are just now getting their chance (now that Ottawa is no longer forcing the "culture of defeat" on them). BC could too, if it so chose.

dude, what are you expecting them to do? Send a letter to every Canadian living overseas in case they want to vote? Part of your responsibility as a citizen lies in finding out these details on your own. Besides it's right on the website, and it took them 2 days to process my information and send me my ballot...it was lightning quick.

I usually do my civic duty and vote, but this time I don't think I will vote. I am for the most part a Liberal. But I don't trust those fools enough to give them my support. Conservatives have a good platform, but their idealogy sucks.

17 votes for the NDP and 17 for the Green? That seems a little skewed.
As for the Conservatives gaining 60% of the vote at this point seems about right. If not for the fact that they are a stronger party this time around, but for the fact that calgarypuck is dominated by calgarians/albertans and there is no doubt about which way they vote.

Regardless, as a Conservative, it's finally nice to see that they are getting a chance to prove themselves.

Unfortunately, I'm going to vote for a party who I don't necessarily support. I don't want to vote for them, but what can you do? I live in Calgary West where the biggest stiff who ever ran for the Conservatives is in and unlike some, I don't care what party you run for if you are a loser.

Voting green. Jim Prentice (the Conservative in my riding) is the only person I've seen anything from...it's like the others aren't even trying. Unfortunately, I do not favour the Conservatives and, ultimately, the party has more power than the individual. I'm not a fan of the Liberals at the moment either, so my vote is going towards building up another party that will hopefully be able to give them some competition someday.

Eating a ballot, not returning it or otherwise destroying or defacing it constitutes a serious breach of the Canada Elections Act. These rules are part of a system of unobtrusive checks and balances that are intended to protect the integrity of the voting process and Canadians' trust in the integrity of the electoral system

I didn't say eat it, you can spoil it by voting for more than one person on the ballot. That way you can tell your conscience that you've fulfilled your responsibility as a citizen by showing up at the voting booth while at the same time not really voting for anyone. Although I don't necessarily endorse this practice it's still better than staying home because of apathy.

Thats fine, I just wanted to post this. I found it amusing that Elections Canada had an official policy regarding 'eating a ballot'

I'm in Cowtown center. I did NOT vote conservative (advance poll) because I want to send a small message to them, I feel they need to actually pay attention to the constituency. It irks me they seem to have done little or nothing to try and win my vote, they assumed I'd give it to them because I'm a Calgarian. Sorry, you need to work for my vote, the other parties did.

I thought it was my own small protest but it appears others have a similar problem at least out west. Don't think it'll matter, the city will go blue along with almost all of the province. I'm just hoping to make them sweat a little more than last time.
