That's going to be a big argument.
Games played ... likely graduated.
Position and age and how he got there ... still a prospect.

I'm reliably told I will agree with whatever you say.

I still consider Parekh a prospect. He only has 14 GP.

This was about next year's list. He will have quite a few more by then, though maybe not enough so he would be out of Calder contention next year.

I'd personally prefer one of the D-men first then the centers the Flames are picking outside the top 2. Actually I'd prefer Verhoff to everyone including McKenna and Stenberg.

Verhoeff isn't very good at defense and his offense isn't enough to balance that. IMO he will need to change the way he plays to find success at the next level.
I will be very disappointed if we end up with Verhoeff. I think at best he turns out to be Ekblad.

I liked him at his age in the WJC.
Seemed to get better and better and had a very long fuse.
Would be a great addition.

Assuming we pick 5 or 6 and we end up with Bjork, Malhotra, Lawrence or Smits, I would be a little disappointed.
These don't project as franchise altering players to me.
I view them as more of the "Monahan" tier. A great player no doubt. A bonafide top of the roster player. But not someone you build a team around.
I would say Parekh is a better prospect then that group as his ceiling is higher.

I'm a big proponent for the flames acquiring a dynamic offensive forward and that's my hope, but if that can't happen and the best are gone at 6, Carels is an absolute beast when I've watched him. It would be really hard to be disappointed with him, I feel like he'll be a top pairing dman for 15 years in the league and he is a left shot which the flames are light on. I would rather him over Reid or Smits, he's a dynamic player offensively for a blueliner and has an edge to his game neither of those guys do.

You are right, it is going to be a bit of an argument. I am not ready to graduate him...the only reason he will hit the games played mark is because he was unable to be sent down. It was a difficult developmental year because he wasn't able to go down.

Granted he hasn't been a transcendent 1st overall pick, but if the Flames pick turns into an Aaron Ekblad type player then sign me up.

Ekblad plays top pair on a Stanley Cup winning team, the Flames could do a lot worse.

Ekblad is a very solid top pair guy. Only guy that is more important is a top line center. Dont agree with this assessment minute munching top pair guys are gold.
