Bought the new box set for Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, and it’s amazing.

Picked this up at my latest model show. Time's been too tight to get started on it, but the anticipation is palpable:

Is that a guitarboat?

Saw this little propane flame thrower on one of those instagram adds for $80, might be buying that although I would have no use. Just screw in a campfire stove propane bottle and blast things.

Yeah, I have 140 hours in it so far. I replay it a couple times per year, because all the different ways you can configure Harry. The ending is usually quite touching.

Yeah, the murder and how you solve it is always the same. But the real mystery is the main character, Harry. He's messed up. You can either leave him that way or fix him, and everything in between. It's a short game but very re-playable. It's often on sale for $10 or something, and it pretty much runs on a potato. Stay away from the Switch version tough, and it has an unpatched memory leak and crashes after a couple of hours. Not a big deal I suppose, if you don't binge games. I do.

We built our house in 2018. We have two huge windows in our family room and it being new and me being a home automation nerd we ordered powered Zebra zwave blinds.

They were installed professionally, and I added the blinds to SmartThings, created Alexa routines and brought my wife into the room and said 'Alexa, Open the living room blinds'.

They started to roll up... and blew well past the stop point and tore themselves off the roller and shredded the blind material as they fell.

They have been down, gorilla glued to the roller, and pieced back together with clear packing tape for 7 years.

Last week, I ordered and installed manual replacements making me feel good about ridding the house of the shame and constant reminder of my home automation failure.

These work well for hanging the hose and you can obviously just use command strips to mount to not eff up the wall or the table with a permanent adhesive: https://a.co/d/2qfQQ9R

You may be going for something nicer than that, though, but you can coil the hose really neat and tidy with it, so the general design is good and you could maybe copy it and make something out of wood if that's your jam.
What's the pros and cons for a dedicated beside table vs a wall mount for CPAP? It seems like there are inexpensive wall mount options available, but many still prefer nice bed side table set ups?

When I was younger I lit our Christmas Creche on fire. Turns out that cotton batton stuff ignites very fast. Told my brother to watch this and he did. Wooden fireplace mantle looked grim when the parents got back home. Got in trouble for that one.

Then later I showed my mom I could flick light a match with my thumb I learned from a buddy and it went under the fridge and lit all that lint/dust on fire instantly. Another need for fire extinguisher, but she was watching me do it so I didn't get in as much crap.

Is that working well for you? We had an incident about a year ago where we were walking our dog and our neighbour's garage door was wide open with no cars in it, so they weren't home.

I walked up to their door and pressed the doorbell that had a ring-cam and said that his door was open and did he want me to close it, he had my cell number and called me back pretty quickly telling me that his app said it was closed.

It most assuredly was not and they were out of town so if I hadn't said something it would have stayed open for a week until they got back, so he gave me the code to close it from the outside.

But he said that he closed it when they left and the app said it was closed and I just texted him a photo of it being wide open.

Thats why I ask, everything he had said it was closed but it absolutely wasn't.

I had a few where it was closed and wasn't with the MyQ app. Neighbor found it open. Also, trying to connect to wifi from the garage never worked so I would sit there and turn off wifi, yadda. Just bought a remote. Fata that noise.

The best part of those openers is the voice control. Basically life changing.

Twenty years ago I installed Vivint home security. Recently Telus called (they bought Vivint’s Canadian business) and told me my equipment was woefully outdated and if I would commit to a few more years of monitoring they would replace all the hardware for free. Unbeknownst to me, the guy installed two automatic garage door opener devices so that now my overhead doors can be controlled by an app on my phone. The app says whether the doors are open or closed and the three or four tests I have done show them to be working fine. Sadly my doorbell camera does not point at the garage doors so that I could visually confirm the reading, but I have to say the ability to open and close the doors remotely from anywhere just using my phone is an unexpected win in my books.

I don't think mine has that. It's pull out the phone while driving which is frowned upon, face open it, find app, click open after it loads for far too long and maybe never depending on trying to connect to wifi or push a button.

When I didn't have mine set for this, I hated it, but there is something wrong with my opener, and I cannot get another remote (or my car, as a result) to connect. I have mine through Telus, though, which is the same as MyQ, and it runs through Siri. I'm sure that you could do this with Android as well.
