17774 attendance for the home opener, yikes. Have we had a non sellout (let alone 1500 short) for a home opener since the young guns era, 25 years ago?

Just like last year there will be multiple games we look back as lost two points.

Any game which was seemingly winnable will hurt our playoffs chances. This one looked winnable for 40 minutes. St.Louis was disengaged and sluggish for two periods and then they woke up. Canucks played hot right off the gate but made lots of mistakes; that was a winnable game too, until it wasn't. These games sure hurt.

For real? That is scary. The drop is faster than I expected. Wow!

And last season was a close call.

This season is young, in another 15-20 games we'll have a good idea what's up. If they end up missing by a lot, I sure hope Flames win the draft lottery. We need a star to build around.

Well, most of our games were 16300-17600 last seasons, and for a few seasons now. But the big difference so far is the home opener. That's always been an automatic sellout, so to see that very low is concerning, for sure.

It was also a 2pm start on Thanksgiving weekend...

Yeah weird start time against a relatively non-controversial / low following / low animosity opponent.

Anyone know why Zary played so little tonight. Had the 2nd fewest minutes of anyone. He only played around 10:24. Did he do something in the game to warrant so few minutes? I know he was playing 4th line centre but was that warranted? Not a fan of young developing player like him playing so few minutes.

Start time/date/opponent have never mattered in the past, that's not it at all.

The jumbo-tron stats had us at ~35% face off percentage. Hard to win anything when you lose the majority of any set piece.

Effort is there and the young guys are looking good. More work to do! A fun team to watch

Important RW to the Blues for the tie breaker.

Watching the highlights, Weegar blows his net front coverage on goals 2, 3, and 4. Not a good performance from the vet.

On attendance, I mean…the city knows this isn’t a great team, and it lacks the offensive stars that pull people out of their seat. It’s not very surprising. Long road ahead to being a team that will sell out a new arena.

Wow, that sucks. Maybe he's a little banged up from the hit the other day? Our ice-time leader for forwards was Farabee, with 21:27.

Thinking Zary isn’t getting minutes because he hasn’t been playing well.

There are a few other players that should be added to that list

I'm starting to loose confidence in Huska, Sharangovich has been mostly awful but yet is getting PP time over Gridin (who's getting none) yes I know I'm not an NHL coach but I have eyes and a brain, and yeah only Lomberg played less than Zary which is ridiculous

This is a team in "transition", when this team is good again, there is going to be alot of new faces, I believe the stars are yet to be drafted, and players like Huberdeau, Kadri, will be long gone, reminds me of the first failed rebuild in Edmonton, they had Hall, Nuge, and that Russian guy, these guys could get them over the hump, and then they got "really" lucky in getting Connor and Leon, I do see some similarities.

Ask yourself this, if you believe this team can make the playoffs, (has yet to in 3 years) who are the "core" players.

You might make an argument for Wolf, but even then he has not put the team on his back, and dragged them into the playoffs.

Maybe a better question is who are the "proven" core players

I am pro-playoffs and anti-tank, but I would rather the Flames show their cards now rather Game 82.

That said, it seems to me the average fan realizes last year was an overachievement, this year is for a draft pick, so how do you show up, pay money, especially Game 1 at home, and hope for a loss? Well, you don’t.
