He just wants to win. I don't think it's more than that.

I guess we can prepare for Oilers/Kings first round for the next three seasons. Exciting isn't it?

The Oilers can't do anything this year. So essentially one year to fix all the issues, they can't walk him to free agency.

Will be that much sweeter when Wolf leads the Flames to a playoff win over EDM with McDavid still there.

Yeah exactly. I feel like if they can just hit a pothole two more times even it'll be over for them. Ekholm is 34, Hyman is 32, Nugent Hopkins is 31.

This year coming up is probably their best chance left but realistically maybe 2 max 3 more cracks at it after that with this core.

All I can think of that's positive is that it could have been worse. When they first got another 1st overall and landed him I thought it would even be a darker timeline to what it's been so far and we would have been looking at a few cups over the last decade

They've been insanely lucky for injuries with Draisaitl and McDavid, they've been playing crazy minutes and somehow have avoided any major injuries around playoff time - not hoping for anyone to get hurt but you wonder if that'll catch up to them soon having those guys play 25 minutes a night

$12.5 AAV makes him much more tradable when he demands a trade after their 0-12 start this season.

Makes you wonder why there was such a hold up... The Ingram waiver wire grab really sold him on staying?

I didn't realize McDavid was represented by the same people as Kawhi Leonard.

Guess we have 2 more years of the dynamic dumbasses. Then other teams can clear cap space for the sweepstakes.

$12.5M... admittedly that's a really damn good AAV for him. Dang.

He has to be the dumbest superstar player in the history of the NHL. He really cares so much about his image and wanting to win that he's willing to cost himself and his family millions in career earnings. I guarantee when he's retired he will regret missing out on at least $8 million. Simply foolish as the Oilers have squandered his career yet he feels somehow that he owes them something.

Only thing redeeming is that this means he's gone at the expiry.
