Good for him. It’s the promotion that anyone doing that, wants.
Recall he did the in arena stuff for the Flames as a secondary guy all the way back in 2004 so he has been around for a while.
As an intermission host with Sarich and Francis or whoever, he was great. As an interviewer less enjoyable.
But yes it’s been a tough go. Fact is the Flames regional broadcasts will never have the budget the Leafs or Oilers will have. Ball (who we were lucky to have as long as we did, he liked it here and turned down offers over the years) then Millen (RIP) and now Leslie who was around the Flames for 20+ years.
Abbott had a tough one last year, Hrudey is harder and harder to listen to and will likely get a nice guy like Parker get the promotion. Media is a tough gig but the Flames get who they pay for. Maybe the hype around the new building will get a bigger budget like the Oilers did when they moved…though the increased stature of the panel and announcers there, were more to placate and start pumping McDavid into a bigger stage.

I’ve heard from someone in broadcasting that Brendan Parker will be taking over for Ryan Leslie. Lots of smoke around Scott Oake retiring and KB is taking over for him on After Hours
