Obviously I didnt mean they picked up the phone, talked really fast, and got the deal done in 15 minutes. He had another year left under contract and didn't need to make a deal until next summer.

I am sure injury risk motivated him signing. But he went from a .4 ppg player his first season to a .3 ppg player last season. He also had a ridiculously low shooting percentage. There is a good chance he sees an increase in numbers. I am a little surprised be made a deal a year earlier then he had to.

I am really glad he is re-signed. I was starting to worry he was going to be traded at some point this season.

I do think that Pospisil can hit 15-20 or thereabouts. Plus he is fast, physical and agitates. He is a high-end 4th liner that can move up to any line in a pinch, and he may end up showing that he is a good 3rd liner. Hoping he shows exactly that as early as this upcoming season.

i also think he is a huge part of the culture on this team. I brought up before, but I remember watching a Weegar interview last season, and he spoke about Pospisil at length. He said when he first practiced against him, he hated him as Pospisil was practicing as hard as he plays, including stiff checks. However, over time, Weegar said he began to really love Pospisil and appreciated how hard he practiced. I really think Pospisil really adds to that 'hardworking' culture that Calgary seems to have embraced again, and for that reason, I would hate to see him traded out. Really happy he is re-signed.

The whole not betting on himself thing is silly anyways. He's bet on himself numerous times, especially when he left Slovakia at 17 years old to join a USHL team with zero other players from his country in hopes of being drafted to the NHL. This contract is the results of all those bets along the way.

I think Pospisil is the glue in terms of team chemistry, particular among the younger players.

There'd have to be a very, very good return if he's dealt. Ciona is likely the only similar player in the system.

Guess that probably kills any rumours about him being sent elsewhere. He’s one of my favourite players. I’m glad he’s sticking around.

I love Pospisil because every opposing player and fanbase despise him.

Late round pick who got a chance with a callup (no one had him on their shortlist for that including myself)

Martin Pospisil is the Brett Ritchie of Darryl Sutter’s dreams minus two inches.

Solid AAV for a guy who should continue to be an impact 4th liner.

Crazy part about popsicle is you can slot him in almost anywhere in the lineup and he adds value. He’s like a jack knife.

I like watching Pospisil a lot, his speed and energy are good for the team. But if he is on your top two lines, you’re going to have some serious scoring problems. 4 goals in 81 games last year. There is some upside there but that is a striking lack of production.

Good contract though, hardly any downside for the team.

Right now he’s good for short term elevation to top 6

He has some things to figure out and things to develop, but no question makes an impact more often than not

Good signing

Think his value add is as a puck retriever. He’s an awesome forechecker.

Gridin Reschny Coronato
Potter Zary Pospisil
Battaglia Frost Basha

Could still use a true 1C but the depth is looking nice going forward
