Right, because none of their other subscribers are unhappy about paying 30% more for a crap product. I'm sure they won't lose anyone but CPers.

How much of this is going to be siphoned to Connor McDavid to make sure he signs with Edmonton or Toronto.

In the original post I said the deadline was September 9th, but it didn't occur to me that everyone might have their own deadline based on when they originally subscribed. Sorry if that caused any confusion.
For me personally, it kind of puts me in a sticky situation. I watch 90% of the games on my laptop, which is a company laptop. They are fine with us using it for personal things outside of work, but we are forbidden to download programs. The last time I went sailing, I ended up getting adware galore on the first stream that I clicked on. If I am going to go that route, I would need to have better security on my computer that I don't think I would be allowed to do.
But then I was thinking. I really should just buy a new personal laptop anyway and I could use the $300+ towards that. But I am still going to have to figure out how to avoid all that adware and stuff. I'm not exactly savvy with that which is why I didn't mind just paying for the Sportsnet+ at the time.

When I tried canceling this afternoon the site was bugging out which was completely on brand for my experience the last 2 years. I’ve written to SportsNet, Rogers, the NHL, and the Calgary Flames in those 2 years warning them all the substandard SportsNet product was going to lose them fans and the second I read of today’s price increases I immediately logged in to ensure my auto-renew got turned off. This is going to likely reduce my Flames consumption, so as angry as I am I’m also sad.

Im out of market and get all Flames games thru my cable provider plus premium sports package which includes NHL Center ice package or whatever it’s called these days.
No crappy SNET app that people seem to hate.

You'll be okay, dude. What a silly gripe while companies create monopolies in our country. Blue Jays are 800000 - 1.5million viewers per game, they're playing to their audeince....in Canada. That ain't even close to the issue at hand here, man.

Exactly. I'm the last person on earth to "but Trudeau" any situation, like our conservative posters love to do. But I was truly flabbergasted when the Rogers purchase of Shaw came up and I thought it was a slam dunk rejection based on competition and avoiding monopolies in Canada, and it ended up passing so easily. What a shame.
Shaw was the last company that could do something to create some kind of competition. Now Telus, Bell and Rogers own us and we'll never get good pricing OR quality service. All I've ever wanted was proper 4K and now that dream is dead on every level.

£92 for me in the UK (about 170CA$) I can't say I've noticed any games are blacked out either when picked up by Premier Sports who show NHL in the UK.
although I only watch Flames games!

I was already on the edge, given the amount of times I have to re-cast when it bugs out, every game. What isn't helping their cause is how prime have showed everyone how a good broadcast looks, while they're left sucking Mcdavid's toes in 480p with funny colored ice.

I don’t know if it’s me misreading something, but it still appears to be cheaper to have a subscription through Amazon Prime than Sportsnet itself. I went this route last year, as it was $180 vs the $250 or what have you directly from Rogers. It also seemlessly blends in with a smart Tv and Amazons “tv style” directory.

How is the streaming quality through Amazon? Does it still buffer endlessly? I got it for playoffs last year through Sportsnet+ and no way I would keep it going due to the poor quality.

I have both TSN and SNET through Amazon Prime.
Haven't had any issues with buffering, that's why I'm confused by those saying how many issues they've had.

Come September I can assure you it will cost the same to subscribe to SN+ regardless of whether its a channel add on else where.
Its too bad SN can't or won't allow people to subscribe to the NHL out of market games during the season like you can with NHL Centre Ice on cable. And allow you to pay it off monthly or in a lump sum.
