Flames have very little leverage here.

The Flames have most of the leverage here. The Stars have almost zero leverage.
- Andersson is not an expiring UFA, he has a full year left on his contract for a very reasonable cost
- Andersson is the top RD available on the market right now
- Andersson is the best D available as a UFA next summer
- The Flames can decide where Andersson goes, including keeping him in Calgary if the offers are garbage right now and trading him in March to whichever contender is willing to meet Conroy's price.
The Flames could use LD depth, we have no need for wingers, and we are desparate for C. Andersson may be the biggest trade chip the Flames have for the next few years, so I would hope that the priority is C.
A lot of people are thinking that the Stars or Golden Knights are the only options here, but there are easily 5 other teams that could use a RD upgrade.
It all comes down to who is going to meet Conroy's price.
