OK, the story is that the York Hotel will be torn down, but instead of moving these people into a new building, the City of Calgary decided to buy the building in which I live, and convert it to "low income" housing. So I, and everyone else here must move out to make way. Not only has it impacted us, but the neighbourhood is up in arms about it as well.

And all McIver has said is "I'm sorry". Wow, how profound. He didn't even inform Madelaine King (our alderman) that it was happening, let alone consult anyone in the area, including ourselves.

Brutal decision, brutal execution, and horrible results. Thanks for voting Bronco, I guess.

Edit... and I find it VERY odd that as soon as this all occurred, our intercom stopped working (so we can't buzz people in), and a 24/7 security guard is in place, where we never had one before....

That's messed up, I feel for you. I know how difficult it can be to find a decent place with certain things you look for. I recently moved because the place I was living at continued to have problem after problem near the end of my time there, most of which involved water leaks which the company who owned building seemed to not care about at all. Only when it started to effect several other people did they call in some people to fix the problem. Turned out the water caused mold growth, which, isn't exactly good for your health and should be taken care of right away. Instead they just decided to leave it and take care of it all the next week... Then the next week... And so on. Ended up finding a place (which was difficult I might add) and moving out in a time span of about 48 hours...

Point is I kind of know how you feel getting screwed around like this and being forced to move.

(Technically, in an apartment, any problems, especially water leaks, are to be taken care of right away. Same goes for mold, but apparently they felt it was ok to have someone changing buckets every few hours and living in a health hazard.... /rant)

Hope everything works out for you, and you are able to find a decent new place. Good luck bro.

Still ticked, but damn if it isn't just luck of the draw? What are the odds that of all the buildings out there, they buy THIS one?

Frickin' frackin'.....
Good on ya Shawnski, you tell that McIver jerk! That's a nice place you got there, I highly doubt Ric will find you anything remotely comparable for the same $$.

Just watched the clip as well...good for you Shawn.

Don't let up on the powers that be....the whole thing is just stupid from beginning to end.

Stay with it and use ALL media...guys like Rutherford eat this stuff up and if enough bad PR starts coming out, you will see changes made.
