Maybe. But it wasn't a huge drop or anything. Put up 3 points in the last 2.
Finishes the season with 28 goals and 62 points. Certainly his best as a flame.

The style of play that Huberdeau evolved to this year will definitely lead to more injuries sitting in front of the net and along the boards. Let's hope he heals up this summer and brings the same game back next year.

Easy to be excited about the rookie crop starting today but I have to say I'm super excited by what I saw down the stretch from Coronato, Klapka and Sharangovich. They elevated their play when it mattered and all have untapped potential at this level.
Coronato is going to be this gen's cammalleri, except we'll have him all throughout his prime years.
I don't even know what Klapka is becoming. I'm not sure who the comparable would be, but if you imagined designing a monster around the net in a lab with an immovable frame and soft hands, most people would dream up something like what klapka has become.

that's a fascinating question to which I have no answer or even guess (it would be easy to hypothesize either the young guns era, or some play out the string game in an injury plagued years) but 4 players making their NHL debut is a pretty remarkable number
the 85-86 team was one that was well recognized (out of quality and necessity) to have a large number of rookies
of these I think the following actually played their NHL debut at some point that season: Mark Lamb, Brett Hull, Gary Suter, Brian Bradley, Dale Degray, Robin Bartel and Marc D'amour. These others were also rookies yet had played some games in prior years: Mike Vernon, Joel Otto, Perry Berezan, Gino Cavallini
it is one of the most remarkable- I would guess rookie crops of all time if you look at it either way:
in terms of actual impact that season- you had Suter as the ROY, Vernon and Otto ended up being the starting goalie and front of roster C on a cup finalist with Berezan also a regular
in terms of eventual impact you have 2 Hall of Famers (Vernon, Hull), the highest scoring eligible D non in the HOF (Suter), an All star (Bradley played in 2 ASGs for Tampa) a elite 3 C (Otto) and a handful of other regulars

A bigger Johan Franzen. I'd be thrilled with that.

Sharangovich coming alive in the final stretch of this season should give hope to the fans. It was a rough year for the guy but he really came back to that 30g guy in the final couple of weeks. I think he's going to track as a 35 goal scorer next year on a line with Frost. They'll be the 2nd line me thinks.
The player I think could be traded is Pospisil. Sell high-ish candidate.

Andersson & Pospisil both have interest leaguewide and while they bring value to the game still, they've been overshadowed by other players that have come in/are developing. And the Flames need to clear roster spots for prospects who will be maturing and pushing in the coming seasons.
They'd absolutely be my candidates to move for younger assets. Selling high may be more fruitful than committing long term in their cases.

I think you have to offer Andersson a fair contract. Which at this point would likely be 8x7M. If he turns that down then trade him for sure.
Pospisil ya, if someone wants to offer a lot for him. Why not trade him. Middle six wingers are one thing we have an over supply of. Huberdeau, Sharangovich, Coronato, and Farabee aren't going anywhere. Zary might end up as a winger. Coleman will earn a top 9 spot for as long as he's on the team. That's already the six wingers in your top 9.
Klapka, Suniev, Honzek, Pospisil, Lomberg, Kerins, Morton, Stromgren and Bishop. Forgot about Kirkland as well. Gotta think they can get a 4th line out of them with one or two pushing for a top 9 spot.

What's the over/under on total points from these four tonight?

9-1 Flames, every Flame gets at least one point.

Why 8 years? 8 years isn't in the interest of the team because intellectually we know he won't be useful to us in years 6-8.
I don't get the max term trend when teams know it hurts them at the backend, unless it's a cant-miss player that they need to the extend to keep the team competitive that it's worth stomaching.
I'm nor sure -38 Andersson is in that category.
He's good but not a necessity that we need to pony up max term for.
How about 6 x 7.5, take it or leave it if you really care about being here. Otherwise we'll facilitate finding a new home for you.
We don't hand out 8 years like candy unless you're justifying that to us.
At least that would be my assessment.

Weegar is - by default the 1st pairing.
Bahl - Parekh
Pachal - Brzustewicz
predicted that last fall - didn't think we'd see it this year though

Every team in the league would offer him a 6x7.5M. That would be a unreal contract for Calgary.
And ya, if he hadn't of had a down year it likely would be 8.5Mx8. Hell if he played like last year maybe 9M. 7-7.5M is going to be #3 money going forward.
