Jankowski now has 5 goals in 6 games. He did it with only 7 shots! It's very unsustainable, but couldn't be happier for the guy.
What a crazy start with a new team. It kind of reminds me of Bennett after the trade to FLA(15 points in 10 games to finish the season).

Pish-tosh. Anybody could score 5 goals on 7 shots. All they have to do is never shoot unless the net is empty.

I don't know, I'd probably miss the empty net on at least 2.

Nobody said you had to shoot from a particular distance. Me, I'd get right into the blue paint first, to be on the safe side.

Jankowski had a hat trick on his first game after he left the Flames
And no, he is nowhere close to Bennett
He is one giant softie that can score once in awhile when nobody pays attention
Bennett scores when the games get tough and everyone else quit

Jankowski never had a hat trick his first game with Pittsburgh. You are confusing him with Colborne I bet

Mark Jankowski > Mikko Rantanen
Jankowski seems like one of those serviceable versatile guys who will stick around the league because of his good wheels, ability to plug in and out of the line up and be a good team player.

You are right
He had 3 points not a hat trick. Still a great game for him.

Colborne scored 19 goals and 44 points with the Flames, not given a qualifying offer, signs with Colorado, hat trick first game than one goal the next 61. Injured and done for his career.

For those wondering, Jankowski now has more NHL goals (65) than epic superstar and first overall Oiler pick Nail "the hammer" Yakupov (62).

Pretty soon he's gonna say Al Bundy scored 5 touchdowns in one game

He just passed 400 career games played as yesterday was #401 for him. There are 34 players picked after Janikowski with more career games played, and 5 ahead of him with fewer. So he'll be close to 50th in his draft class for games played when it's all settled. Big Center who can skate, likely can hang around the league for a few years in some capacity.

I’m glad he’s stuck around. All the pressure on him was unfair and because of incompetent management. Best player in the draft, velvet mitts.

Always seemed like a player with great attributes, tall, great skater and good mitts but just seems to lack the competitive intensity to be a top player. Congrats to him for carving out a good little career, but it feels like he could have been so much more.

I've actually maintained for a few years now, that given how weak that draft was in retrospect, Jankowski belonged in the 20-30 later first round. Feaster just did it in a way that set fans up for a letdown. That and taking a swing and missing on a big center isn't really the worst draft strategy overall.

I always like Jankowski. I also thought he had a great rookie season, and his goals were all high-level shots, not fluky bounces. He then got some flukey bounces in the 2nd year. 3rd year, he completely fell apart.
What he is doing in Carolina isn't surprising to me. Just hope he keeps it up (and I doubt he will). He scored 4 goals in a game here once (2nd season I think?). When things are going right, you just keep on going. Confidence in this league is a hell of a drug too.
As for Colborne, IIRC, he got hurt in Colorado early on and then apparently had concussion issues. That's where his career derailed. He only played that one season for Colorado, and then tried to make a comeback the following season in the AHL. Called it a career after that. I appreciated his time here in Calgary - I remember his impossible to stop shootout move going around the goalie with his reach. Hopefully he is healthy and concussion-symptom-free now.
