Spot on. No kidding there were some mistakes tonight, 2nd night of back to back with travel and less then 24 hours between games. Effort was good, they pushed hard, but some back breaking goals cost them.

I though just the Scheiffle one was really bad.
I probably wouldn’t have roasted Vladar in the media. It’s pretty evident he has no confidence right now.

The good news is that Wolf can - and probably will - play all 6 home games and Vladar will likely get the guaranteed loss in SEA.
The home games: WSH, ANA, DET, TOR, COL, SEA

Forgive me for not putting a game in Seattle on a back to back in scheduled loss category. They're not a very good team.
Today was a schedule loss because of the opponent. I wasn't disappointed in the result tonight. I will be if they lose to Seattle next Sunday.

I don't know why it is up for debate anymore. Vladar sucked again. Even the coach said as much. Pretty sure he has a great veiw from his "seat". Vladar just is not consistent enough. I was really hoping he would turn out to be like a older Wolf when acquired since Boston was so split on trading him or Swayman. Swaymans having a down year but Vladar has sported a .88x average for 3 seasons now.
The writing is on the wall. Karri Ramo was a .910 his 3 years as a Flame and we as spectators thought he was not good enough.

I thought Ramo got treated poorly when he was here. Was a fairly solid goalie.

There is no reason a back up who hasn't played in 4 can not be better unless he is just as his save % has suggested for 3 years now. I get the travel thing ( even for the forewards) but these pro athletes are not flying on fare saver style flights , taking public transportation to hotel or the rinks. These guys are taking the best of the best transportation, eating the best foods avaliable, access to health care professionals,be it doctors or trainers between games. They are going to have the budgets for the best travel accessories for sleep etc etc. These athletes have the best travel accommodations out side personal planes and being individually limoed to every game with there own personal doctor treating them .
Anyways that's my b2b rant . So a goalie who has played very little with all this in consideration who has elite spurts should be better unless he is just not an average expected goalie.

If that’s the case they should bring up Cooley. Wolf shouldn’t be playing 29 of the remaining 34.

I do too. Rittich was another one who was a decent back up just under Ramos numbers in 4 years.
Those guys are decent average or slightly above average goalies that were both around .910 sv% average and we needed them just to be a bit more solid ,yet we have posters arguing a goalie who in his tenure outside his first year out of 4 arguing sporting a .88x sv percentage for 3 years should be cut slack like it's not what he is just the team is tired. This year he's played the b2b BUT it's not out of the average stats he's producing at . He hasn't played all those years with a completely #### team tired in front of him.
His best year was his first year in 21 with a .906 in the North division.

Will need the backup to collect a few points in order to make the dance, whoever that ends up being down the stretch.

Being a goalie, I never like to soley place a loss on the goalie, but Vladar needs to take acceptance for that loss. There are times in a game when your team needs you to make a save, and right at the end of a period when your team is keeping it close is certainly one of them. That 3-1 goal at the end of thre second was the nail in the coffin for that game. Vladar makes that save, that game could have been completly different.
Apart from Vladar I think the team played a really good game, especially considering it was the 2nd game of a B2B with such little rest time in between games.
Liking the new third line with Sharangovich, Kuzmenko and Pospisil. Two skilled guys with a defence aware third guy seems to be working. The stats may say differently but I thought they created a lot of good looks tonight. Sometimes a little shot shy, which I hope improves.
oh well, onto the next one.

Thank goodness for Wolf, boy has Vladar been a disappointment.
Hopefully the Kipper comparison for Wolf doesn't include always having a back up goalie who is basically a guaranteed loss when he gets a start once every 6 to 8 games.

I actually would not be surprised if the Flames made some moves before the 4 nations break. It's a home stand all the way through to it I believe. Perfect time to situate and new players coming in (via the farm or elsewhere).
|
I think the farm cupboards are starting to be pretty bare. Especially at forward.
Could see a defenseman coming up for miromanov or cooley for vladar.

Vladar is liked in the dressing room so I don't like the idea of bringing Cooley up and messing with the positives going on this season. I think they need to keep playing him in the backup role in hopes he can have a couple better games before the trade deadline. If they can get can get a 5th round pick then pull the trigger and roll with Cooley for the rest of the season. A 5th round pick isn't great but this team needs as many darts as possible for the draft board.

I’m not debating about Vladar as a goalie in general. But I doubt the outcome is different if it’s Cooley in net, or if the teams switched goalies. Maybe Wolf makes a difference but that’s not the question.

Any back up level goalie is going to get smoked. I am not sure the Flames bother moving Vladar

Vladar has now started or appeared in 96 NHL games since 20/21, his debut season.
Among all NHL G's since that time who have also appeared in 96 or more games, he ranks....
52 out of 55 in wins.
55 out of 55 in Save%.
42 out of 55 in GAA.
