Ya, Hall should get a 3rd too so we'll have to wait and see what the final deal is.

Does that open up some room for Colorado to still pursue Kadri in a Middlestat/Ritchie deal?

Edit: NVM, Sureloss just posted Kotka going to COL too.

Avalanche will be considerably worse after trading him but if he wants close to $15 million I understand why they are making the deal. Sucks to lose such a good player though.
Guys often pick up the slack when the star goes down. For a while. But they usually can't maintain that pace. Rantanen is really good, but IMO, he's a 70-80 point guy in most situations.

Doubt it...their #2 center would be KK

Carolina wasn’t bought in on Necas long term either. Ruthless asset management by both teams

We will agree to disagree as he's never been a 70 point player ever after his rookie season.

With the number of points he has gotten in the past few years, how is Rantanen not a Top 5 player.

He can be. Just needs to work on his faceoffs.

Wow, crazy trade.

When I first read it, I thought it said Rantanen for Nemec. Necas makes a lot more sense.

He plays wing in Carolina. Part of the friction between him and the Canes

It's the other way around. Necas has wanted out of Carolina for years now.

JT Miller's landing spot shrunk down to 1 or 2 teams now.

I wonder if the Central teams aretoo bothered by this. Rantanen going east must be a bigger deal than what Colorado's bringing in.

Because they didn’t view him as a centre and core piece.
