Sabres are always the best example on why trying to win games is more important than tanking. That team has talent but a very low give af meter. Never ending losing has infected that entire organization. No real vets that bring a winning culture, just ass year in and year out.

Only 4 goalies with similar starts can be argued to be performing better than Wolf this season.
Pretty darn great.

That’s why the rebuild can’t take forever. You have the cornerstone inhouse.

Sabres need some top 5 picks, they are awful, just like the Hawks.
Great game for the good guys, another fantastic victory. Onward to the playoffs.

If they can make a move for a Cozens, it would help things along.
Although I don't know if he has too much Sabres stink on him...

Never forget the absolute rant someone went on about Dougie Hamilton on a hot mic post game.
Need to win those games. Wolf played great, Flames still got some puck luck on those numerous scrambles in front of their net, that it didn't bounce the other way or to a Sabre.
Huberdeau's confidence is high and looking more natural not forcing things.
Tough weekend though, Minnesota, then the Jets get the Flames at the end of a back to back AGAIN. Flames started this mini Jets slump too so that will be especially tough.
Will take a split all day long.

They need to draft some guys like Eichel and Reinhart.

You just see endless frustration with that team. Similar to Chicago and the Oilers before McDavid. Just endlessly struggling to play the right way. Wonder what it will take for Buffalo to get out of this endless rebuild. I like a lot of their players like Thompson and Dahlin (although he was awful tonight) but they just seem to keep spinning their tires.
Also noticed how invisible Benson was tonight. Only noticed him losing puck battles. I know he was exciting to start the season last year but I think they should have sent him to Junior for another year after the draft. Only 14 points in 41 games this year.

Sabres have had enough high picks the 13 years since they were in the playoffs. They need NHL players that know how to win and drag the team into the fight on a nightly basis.

I can see Kerins being sent back down. Not the end of the world for the youngster, but an opportunity for him to work on his game.

That was Garret and Rick Ball in the playoffs, against Anaheim I think.

I've bee a huge Huberdeau hater. But he had a great game tonight and he's putting a good (not 10.5m good though) season

Trying to do some research about what the Sabres would want to add in exchange for Cozens.... what I read is that they seem to be a pretty talent loaded team, what they are lacking is leadership.
Lindy is the focal point of the blame. His coaching style is described as being pure offense - no defense.
If that is true, I hope we can find a way to get Cozens out of there before the team figures out they should fire Lindy and get a better coach to sort the team out.

Can't really blame him. You have Kuzy, a defensive liability, and 2 AHL call ups.

Man or two short half the period...lot of PK

Games in hand on VAN and STL.
Please don't go on a skid now. Let's get some actual breathing room in this thing.
I know it's in the Flames DNA to make things as ambiguous as possible going into the TDL, but maybe we can simply... walk through the door the competition has opened for us?
