Sucks for the wranglers, they've lost quite a bit of offence off their roster this year.

in the last 3 seasons the Flames have lost 5 players on waivers - Valimaki, DeSimone, Gilbert, Schwindt and Duehr
They have picked up 3 off waivers - Zohorna, Hanley and Pachal

Don't forget Ruzicka! His and Valimaki's waiver threads were pretty funny.

good luck to him! Didn't think he'd get claimed, but good for him to get another shot.

Surprised to see a claim for Duehr, man was I really digging his play for his first call up. The guy had speed and a bit of a scoring touch. This year though, woof, barely noticeable on the ice. Good luck in SJ.

Don't like it for the Wranglers who are losing a lot of pieces from the team that was 1st place in the AHL.
But in terms of the NHL and Duehr then it's good for him. Keeps getting an NHL paycheque and maybe he can find a role there.

First Line Centre
FWIW (Since Sutter left)
With Rooney (213 minutes)
CF - 40.8%
SF - 42.93%
xGF - 42.55%
SCF - 38.59%
HDCF - 43.9%
Without Rooney (85 minutes)
CF - 54.27%
SF - 54.93%
xGF - 62.97%
SCF - 56.58%
HDCF - 59.38%
I can see why the Sharks would see some value in Duehr. He has the tools to be a solid bottom sixer.

Between the Wranglers and Flames, we now have 5 right shot forwards. That seems funny.

Pretty sweet gig, gets to live in California now! Best of luck to him (except when playing the Flames)

I liked Walker. In this recent call-up though he was looking more and more like an AHL journeyman type of player. At 27, he's unlikely to suddenly become capable of NHL play.
Really hoping this signals a change for the Flames bottom six. Maybe fewer guys like Rooney and more prospects.

I believe he is on a one-way deal, so it wouldn't affect his pay in the AHL. In fact, it would probably be better because no escrow.
Definitely good for his long term though just getting to stay in the NHL longer. He is a pending UFA and is playing for a future contract now.

Yikes. The Flames need to move on from Rooney. The experiment is over. It didn't work.

That's a good claim by SJ, Duehr has some skill under the right deployment
