He only played 3 games for us?! I remember his play more vividly than Jagr

James Neal, absolute bum. Ancient Jagr had a higher give a #### level. Never seen a player just not care like James Neal. Forever a loser in my books

They played Philly. Won 5-1 he had 2 goals on line with Iggy and Cammy.
He didn’t fit the team or Iggy who is a goal scorer and Jokinen was a scoring C. Was pretty disappointed we made the trade. He wasn’t good at faceoffs either.
It was downhill after the first game.

Lundmark, Jankowski, and Colborne. All guys that fans thought would become our next power forward. All guys who didn't do a lot. Everytime the Flames lost, there was always comments about for these guys weren't doing enough.

You’re right it was the best trade ever. Division leading team trades an equal player for a guy who was free falling for 3 years and isn’t even a #1C that doesn’t fit the team or line. Team falls out of division lead cap structure is screwed up and we can’t even ice a full roster.
Not only that the guy never made the playoffs in his career and that was his first and last time making it and if we got him sooner we probably don’t make it either.

One of my favourite Calgary Flames tropes.
"Yes, yes, thats all well and good, but does he have a vastly less talented brother we could sign??"

The Oilers are still paying him $2M until the end of this season.

This thread is hilarious and I like it! My choices are:
Neal - Legend of Bennett - Brouwer
Special Needs - Jokinen - Comeau
Lazar - Stajan - Kotalik
Leclerc - Lundmark - Chucko
JBo - Butler
Eriksson - Ian White
Zyuzin - Wideman
McBackup/Hiller

Funny putting Bennett's legend next to Brouwer and Neal, because those two dumbasses were instrumental in Bennett's failure here.

Neal is a first-ballot guy in this category. Just appalling.

GOAT!

Let's not forget the Rob Niedermayer hatty:
- bad penalty leading to a goal against
- receiving end of a huge momentum-swinging hit
- tape-to-tape pass to the other team resulting in a goal against

I mean, Val Bure wasn't a bad player. He had 35 goals and 75 points for us one year. He was just no Pavel ... but almost nobody was, and that's not Val's fault.

Too bad we never had Maxime Tanguay and Marko Kiprusoff

You forgot Max Reinhart. And Granlund.
OTOH we had the better Tkachuk, Mullen, Tanev, Eaves, Patrick.

I still can't forgive Bobby Dollas and Darryl Shannon for the 99-00 season which technically falls within this category but just barely.

Although you are right in hindsight.
At the time everyone was excited at the time, no one knew they would have these many injuries and lose the division. Playing Chicago on the road vs St. Louis at home is what killed that season.
Not sure which year was more disappointing, Anaheim 06 or Chicago 08. Anaheim i think we just need one more scorer, maybe samsonov and then we go on a run and Edmonton doesn't
