One way to draw penalties is with speed and driving to the net. Need to take that puck to the net and make the Sens hook and hold.

The issue isn't the Flames' penalties (most penalties that are called are deserved), the issue is that the calls aren't being made the other way.

Kind of like the way Pelletier went to the net and got hooked?

Or the hooks against Zary and I forget who in OT against BOS (as two quick examples)

Do we really want Flames powerplays? I know it's been a bit better lately but they're still not very good at that side of special teams.

Not denying that at all. That was a very clear 4 minutes, every game.

But it's sure...odd...that teams come to Calgary, and play perfect, penalty-free hockey all of the sudden.

Like I said, I haven’t seen any bad non calls. I suppose if you squint you might find one on the Pelletier breakaway but it wasn’t blatant.

What call should have been made against Ottawa?

they were on a huge run (over 30%) that lifted them all the way to 16th in the league (or maybe higher), and then the refs just stopped calling penalties. It's pretty laughable, really.

Shocking, I know, but somehow the Bruins who played a perfectly clean penalty free game against the Flames the other night, have taken 2 penalties against the leagues darlings tonight.

nice zone entry from Coronato - we talk a lot about his improved skating, but his patience with the puck has really improved as well
