I'm going to put mine up on a shelf in my office.
I have a poster in my office that I got when my dad passed away. Greyhound did a Bus Parade in front of Olympic Plaza during the Olympics, the brick is going to sit right next to that photo.

A lot of tits in this thread. Heaven forbid we want a memento of a neat time in our city to which we have a personal connection. The Olympics ruled, dude. I was 12 when they were here. I was one of the kids dancing and making shapes and stuff in the Opening Ceremonies. Walking out into the field after two years of intense practicing was surreal. We were on TV for the world and in front of a packed stadium. I remember going to Olympic Plaza for the medal ceremonies a couple times. Saw the aerial skiers. Saw the speed skaters.
I get if it's a nothing to you, but holy crap STFU.

It something my mom bought for my brother and I and my dad. I used to try and find the bricks whenever I was down there. She thought it was so neat. I don’t want those bricks. Just too fataing sad to think about. I totally agree with you. Sorry if I made it feel stupid for real. It’s awesome you get them back.
I went to aerials and moguls and the Elizabeth Manley bronze.
I’m pretty nostalgic right now and it’s raw.

Zero offence here, dude. I certainly didn't complain about you haha. My favourite thing to do is fight about dumb stuff on CP.
Tough time of year for missing lost loved ones. I feel for ya.

I remember getting to watch Eddie the Eagle live in person, with 50-60000 other people at the ski jumps - shouting "Tastes Great, Less Filling" back and forth from side to side.

That website the city put up to find your brick is pretty cool. Unfortunately, missed the cut-off for the application. I'd definitely have grabbed it and put it outside somewhere just to appreciate the sentimental value and be reminded of my family and the Olympics.

I was there for the 90m final. I don't remember the upslope, but probably.

TNG debuted in the fall of 1987, so it wouldn't surprise me if Wheaton came to town that summer doing promotion for the show and either bought his own brick or was gifted one by the 2&7 promo department.

I'd buy that and then go and deliver it to him personally.
Through a window. With a note.
"Shut up Wesley!"
Seriously though, that'd be kind of cool if it was real. I harbor no ill will to Wheaton. He played his role the way it was written and I thought he was great in 'Stand by Me.'
That'd be kind of cool. Not the throwing a brick through his window part, the him having a brick part.

In the Dark Ages people were buried with rocks or bricks in their mouths so that if they came back from the dead as Vampires they couldnt bite anyone.
They still do that in some places in rural Romania.
Oh those Romanians...what a delightful bunch!

Classic City of Calgary brilliance - they send out an email on Dec 31 advising that if you were lucky enough to have a brick retrieved, you must come Friday Jan 3rd or Saturday Jan 4th *only* down to the Ag building on the Stampede grounds.
Do these wizards not realize:
- many people (or their designates) would be on vacation for those two dates? Or on the date they sent out that email?
- A lot of the original brick holders are between 70 - 90 yrs old - and organizing help from friends or their now adult kids takes more than 3 days notice?
They were thoughtful enough to advise bringing gloves. Clearly someone there is reading this thread...

They said it was those two dates when you applied and also said you could designate a proxy to pick up for you
