A concept plan is basically one step away from ribbon cutting for easily grifted people. Just tell them where to send the money and who to vote for to make it happen.

Ya, I really hate that they have the concept plan done. Seems triggering for some who prefer stagnation and who also dislike developing our resources.
Sigh. It’s ok that we are developing, it’s fine that this is that stage that the current project is at.
It is great that the government on all levels is embracing innovation.
Positive things happening!!

It's funny how many times he has to say it isn't just Kevin, like he knows that's already a big turn-off for many.

A data center is hardly innovative. The first one ever built was in 1940 by the university of pennsylvania.

Ok. Great.
Are you against the project because it’s not innovative enough? Or are there other reasons?

Skepticism is warranted, and it would be a fantastic project if it goes through. Both can be true.

I think you're confusing skepticism about the execution of a project as an endorsement (or lack thereof) of its intrinsic value.

People aren’t “against” the project or, better put, the “concept of a project.”
Smart people just know it’s nothing more than a grift right now. The amount of energy required is impossible without significant government spend to increase the power available to the area. And planning to rely solely on natural gas is not only going to hugely increase prices for everyone else, but it’s going to create insane emissions (think doubling the amount of cars in all of Canada).
That’s why intelligent jurisdictions are planning for these things properly and looking into nuclear and renewables to ensure they’re sustainable. Instead, the UCP are just having it dropped in their lap with no plan while they actively undermine renewable energy.

Alright, I see only two ways to effectively power this project.
The first involved Orphans shoveling coal into boilers and the second is essentially The Matrix where we use humans as batteries.
The Orphans come into play in the second scenario as well.
I suppose we could 'Shawshank' it and use prisoners and junkies as well.
All the meth and fentanyl you want, just keep shoveling.

Not sure you'd get the productivity needed out of the fentanyl group, but those meth heads will probably be able to move a lot of coal.

We could also go to re-usable clean energy and hook up a ton of stationary bikes and get the meth heads to pedal to generate energy.
Cheese sandwiches and meth. Clean energy! Plus a warm place to live!
Its amazing what you can accomplish when society doesnt care about a specific group of people.

The boilers can consume more than coal.

Four years ago this pretend project would have been a cryptocurrency mining center. It's only proposed now with a different title because the UCP are working hard to reward gas power generation and are giving money to companies to prove how conservative they are to other culture warriors. Can't hate on Kevin O'Leary for going through the motions.

Remember when he ran to be leader of the Conservatives, and his old co-worker had this to say.... Arlene Dickinson stated that she found O'Leary to be too "self-interested and opportunistic" to be qualified for the office of prime minister.
And then he was just kind of ignored until he went home with his tail between his legs because even the CPC found him far to lame to take seriously? Ya, he can stop pretending he represents Canada too the President Elect of the US.
And with Smith bending over backwards while doing back flips at Trumps whim, having these three all align can only mean we are going to get screwed 6 ways from Sunday.

His concept plan is about as good as something I can do literally at this exact moment through chatGPT.
This has the hallmark of grift, which is why we're all upset.
If O'Leary put up a billion dollars to acquire land, start consultations with the first nations/landowners and actually show that he's actually serious about the project, then maybe I'd support government dollars going to it.
