The NHL needs to get out of the betting game, it's too big a temptation for corruption.
Pop on your tinfoil hat but I still remember an educational video on the dark web from some interwebs whizz where it was mentioned that NHL refs were seen for sale on there.

Of course I chuckled, but it was oddly specific for a video that had nothing to do with hockey, let alone the NHL.

On nights like tonight, part of me can't help but believe.

Oh no grammar, go back to teaching on Monday, hahaha.

No, he was on a streak with no back to backs. Wolf is the future. Should have played him.

Refs weren’t great, but neither were the Flames. Lost most board battles, second to the puck all over, poor passing, stupid plays and penalties.

Overall weak effort and the final score flattered the Flames.

Need better efforts than that.

Flames were the far better team 5 on 5...problem is they were short handed for nearly an entire period.

based on the highlight pack it looks like Wolf kept this one from being a laugher.

disappointing to lose to the trash pile sens but on to the next one

I didn’t see one penalty all evening against the flames that wasn’t actually a penalty.

Blame the zebras if you want NHL officiating is obviously no good.

But they did themselves absolutely no favours and losers Need to look in the mirror.

Am I the only one who thought the penalties against the Flames were all penalties?

1. penalty for failed challenge. That was a hard one to overturn, but worth a shot for sure.

2. Bahl - Penalty for puck over glass, can't argue it.

3. Pachal-Grieg took penalties for skirmish.

4. Huberdeau took Pinto down pretty good in the scrum. Pinto probably should have been called as well, so that one I get the frustration.

5. Kuzmenko high sticking - Stick was high, looked like he clipped him from the one angle I saw.

6. Sharangovich - High elbow, made clear contact

7. Weegar interference - he made contact when trying to get in the way of Giroux who made a meal of it, but even if he didn't, that's still a penalty. He was in a bad spot with no stick. He dove at a guy and stopped a breakaway, penalty every time.

8. Lomberg double minor - clear high stick with blood.

9. Sharangovich trip - stick in feet clearly, caused a turnover - always a penalty.

If you wanna say the Sens should have had more penalties to balance out the PP's, sure, okay, I get that. But I don't think you can really quibble with any of the calls that went against Calgary.

Flames had to be more disciplined with their sticks tonight. They weren't and it cost them.

The Kuzmenko high stick was the guys own stick IMO

I think the issue with the refs is that they didn't call the obvious ones the other way

well that certainly isn't what happened, high danger chances slightly favoured the Flames...game was decided on a coin flip challenge

And that's the problem. If you're going to call a #### ton of penalties then call it both ways. Don't let one team have a free for all.

"these are all penalties"

yeah, by the book there is a penalty every 10 seconds or so in a hockey game. Refs are supposed to have a feel for the game and to keep things reasonably balanced. Flames control the play 5 on 5 and take 90% of the penalties somehow.

Did the Sens high stick or elbow or throw the puck over the glass and they didn't get called? I don't recall anything like that.

Quibble about a hook or hold here and there, sure, but you know what, the Flames probably had a hook or hold that didn't get called as well.

The Flames took obvious penalties that really had to be called and that caused the massive discrepancy.

What from my list shouldn't have been called outside of the Kuzmenko one that we didn't have a better look at, so neither of us can be certain.

The superman dive should have been at least an even up, Huberdeau gets a penalty for being stronger in a scrum...but whatever if you want to call the book call it both ways. Sens were running interference all game. Coleman got leveled without the puck.

Refs were bad, not really much to debate
