Our reaction with Wolf standing up and not flinching at all on those fakes in the shootout:

As a Flames AND Wranglers STH, just want to say how awesome it’s been to get to see Wolf play at both levels.

(Without trying to be a jinx, it’s almost like the Flames actually developed a prospect properly…)

The Wolf Update:

7-2-1
2.36 (7th)
.925 (3rd)

And for reference, Hellebuyck is sitting 4th with a .923

I put a throwaway bet on a Flames Stanley Cup win in preseason and it was at +6600. I just looked now and Flames chances are at +7000. Tied for 2nd in the Pacific but somehow our odds have gotten worse. This is why I don’t gamble on sports, I don’t understand.

Ok I'm in. Let's pick up Crosby at the deadline.

Huska took some heat in the GT but he’s done a masterful job with the team. To be where they are with such little talent shows how everyone has bought in to his message. There is no quit with this group and for the most part they bring their work boots every game.

I certainly enjoy watching this more than last season where it was distraction after distraction with guys wanting out. This new mentality is refreshing. If you don’t want to be a Calgary Flame then pack your bags and get out. The guys who want to be here, and have been given a chance, deserve a ton of credit.

Is Wolf so good that the plan changes? What if he alone can keep us from being bottom 10?

Maybe the flames will need to go big game hunting for some talent via trade or UFA

It’s interesting, I am probably having the most fun I have had watching the Flames in years. I had no expectations for the season but there has been so many pleasant surprises. The defence 5 on 5 has been exceptional, you would never know they lost Z and Hanifin. Wolf has been everything as advertised if not more. Huska seems like a legit coach, the Flames even have a fun behind the scene series now (craziest development). The last few years of the last core had a lot of anxiety around them, especially when Johnny and MT’s looming free agency put huge pressure on them to win. This year has been stress free and extremely enjoyable. Coming out of some of the toughest year for the Flames organization that I can remember, it is just nice to enjoy this team after so much upheaval.

Go Flames

That's already as good as guaranteed.

I think they should look to hunt for young roster forwards that can help them now and in a few years.

The last thing you want is lose your pick and not make the playoffs.

Either bomb or make the dance. Being just on the outside and losing the Flames pick is worst of the potential outcomes.

Personally, I have no problem with them cultivating this winning culture before they're actually good on paper. If they keep flipping FAs and expiring players for picks and end up in a wildcard spot in the meantime, they'll still continue to build a prospect base.

It's better than sucking out loud and then not being able to figure out the winning part after getting all the sexy picks (Buffalo, Detroit, Anaheim, etc)
