As others have mentioned, Guy Lafleur and Mario Lemieux both took 3 years off and came back. Lemieux was impactful. Lafleur was a shell of what he once was but not useless.

Landeskog is coming back from a surgery no one has ever returned from.

Lonzo Ball.
You are correct, and his timeline is eerily similar to Landeskog. He has only played in 35 games thi syear.

MacKinnon, Makar, Manson, Cogliano, and GM Chris McFarland are apparently attending the game.

Will be interested to see how it goes.
In the clips of his AHL time I didn't see a guy that looked NHL ready, but you never know.

Yeah, pretty slow and with a weird stride. I don't think he's moving the needle.

He's also a guy who a big part of his play was his tenacity and playing almost a bit recklessly.
From what I saw in the AHL games he seemed very tentative and hesitant to initiate contact or to go to those tough areas.

He's a leader so just having him in the locker room may be worth it even if he's not playing a lot of minutes.

I don’t believe the intent is even he moves the needle on the ice. They aren’t exactly swimming in depth. He’s a leader and he will play a few mins a game.
