He's 34. He is what he is. His personality gives his game edge and determination, but comes with its own drawbacks. There's a reason why Toronto let him go. He also made $4.5 million there and signed as a UFA for $7 million. If he could put it all together he'd have been a bonafide top line center making a lot more money.

You have to take the bad with the good with him, and the good significantly outweighs the bad.

I just find myself a lot more interested these days compared the previous two or three seasons.

A team that cares. A team that works. A team that entertains.

Nothing worse than an old team with no hope of a Cup chasing 8th. This season is such a breath of fresh air. Huge fan of how Husk has these guys playing.

I am also not sold on Vladar. He has been excellent making the first save, but he kicks out so many rebounds. I feel like he has been very lucky to not have more goals against.

Good bounce back last night after a terrible 25-30 minutes (after the good 5 minute start).
You make a fair point. I believe that the coaching staff really really likes Rooney on the roster, so as soon as he was available to play, Huska made whatever changes he needed to ensure it happened. This meant taking Klapka out and changing 3 lines. On the other hand, Huska explained the changes as him wanting more speed on the Kadri, Kuzmenko line which moved Pospisil there, bumping Kirkland up to play between Huberdeau and Mantha.

I was expecting 82 of these types of games, but without the fight back in the last half of the game. Flames could have easily folded after those quick two in the second. This was looking like a 6-1 loss type game, but they made it a one goal game late. Can’t complain too much about that. My biggest concern is they are not the most talent group skill wise and the last two games they have been trying to make the perfect play. I’d rather see more pucks to the net rather than that extra pass.

Klapka was terrible in that last game. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is back in the AHL soon

It’ll be great when Sharangovich is back.

That first goal was a bad one for Vladar. Was caught cheating and not hugging the post.

Can't blame him for that goal off the Burns shot, went off at least Backlund and likely others.

Third goal was a bad screen job by Miromanov, who was also out of position IMO.

I think this game will be pretty emblematic of who the Flames are. They're a scrappy and hard working team that lacks talent but won't give up. I don't think we'll see many wins this year, but we won't get blown out very often.

Win or lose, I've surprisingly really enjoyed watching them this year.

The Jarvis one in the first? Hugging the post would have not been a good decision there since Jarvis was able to move closer to the front of the net before Andersson even got to him.

Who was it that got interviewed and said this last 30 minutes proved we can HANG with teams? Huska was asked about it and seemed pissssed even though he tried hiding it poorly.

I posted about this already in the other thread and I think made valid points .

Piisssing away a hot start would be tragic

What might be more tragic is not enjoying the great start by a high work ethic low talent team who will likely ultimately lose many more just like this one.

Jarvis (who is a Flames killer faked pass and Vladar bit hard. Gave Jarvis plenty of opening short side to shoot at. But I don't fault Vladar for the other two goals.

Should Vladar have simply ignored the pass threat?

It was basically a two on oh down low. He had no chance.

The only thing I'd say that biting on the pass did was cause him to not be as far out of his crease as he could have been. Maybe he would have got a piece and it doesn't go just under the crossbar.

I was more mad at Andersson going too far out and leaving him all alone. You put your goalie in a tough situation when a guy is that close and has that much time to pick a spot.

I just wonder how long this keeps them perked up.

It's easy to play this style early in the season but it's a long season.

Hard to maintain that style throughout the season, and I feel as the mid season grind starts to add up, the teams with more skill start to solididy themselves.

Then playoffs comes around and flips things again.

If Vladar had played the shot, Jarvis makes the pass for an easy tap-in and posters would be saying he was caught cheating on the shot.
