I’d even try Pachal with Weegar if Miromanov is out for any length of time. Other observations were that Pospisil looked to struggle badly in the face off dot and was sat while Kadri was double shifted in the 3rd. Maybe even Backlund was double shifted as Kirkland missed a few shifts. Personally Backlund looks like he is his normal ‘safe’ self but footspeed is becoming an issue and his inability to convert his chances on a stacked team would push him further down the depth chart. All in all the boys played a very structured low event game and we should be celebrating 9/10 possible points.
Barrie had a rough game for sure. I have really liked Bahl, especially considering he missed most of camp - got off to a slow start against VAN but has been steadily improving since. I don't like the Weegar-Miromanov pairing, and think Weegar needs a more stable partner. Would like to see:

Bahl - Andersson
Pachal - Weegar
Bean - Miromanov

(or switch Bahl and Pachal)

I thought Daccord was just as responsible for the Kraken getting to OT as Vladar was for the Flames - maybe more so.

I didn’t mind Barrie last night. Moved the puck well and you can see his instincts offensively. I worry rotating him in and out you won’t get all you can out of him.

Bean on the other hand, yeesh. I had higher expectations for what he would bring.

Sloppy game. The Flames looked like they had too many days off, and struggled to get their timing together at game-speed. It was worse against another team that plays a fast, heavy forecheck like they do.

I thought the whole Backlund line played quite well; everyone else besides them and Vladar struggled, though. But, I also liked some of the flashes I saw from Coronado (I did that on purpose). It's two games, but, so far, he looks better to me than he did last year.

My main frustration at this point is that I think people are going to complain about this all season, and it's annoying. Get used to it—both goalies are going to split the entire schedule, which is exactly what should happen. I expect they have a set rotation for the next few weeks, and will stick to it.

Vladar is doing an excellent job of proving that, now that he is healthy, he is a MUCH better goalie than he played last season. If he is playing a lot, that means he is playing well, which is what everyone should want to happen.

The average crease share over the last 5 years for the top 12 goalies was 62.3%. You need a strong tandem in today’s NHL. I welcome more starts for Vladar. Why would we want to put all our eggs in one basket. All it takes is one injury and your back to square one.

Maybe the team bonding vacation wasn't the best timed. Probably better to do during the preseason when the games dont matter. Grinding at practice during their break may have kept them in the flow.

Don't know what got into Kadri when he was playing exactly how he needs to in the first four games.

It's the way the schedule shook out. Not much they can do about it.

They had a break in the schedule - perfect time for a team bonding. And what makes you think their practices were any different than they would have been in Calgary?

It is the break that is the problem, not a team bonding exercise.

My guess is lots of flybys. When I saw Lomborghini not finishing his checks I figured that was the course the game was going to take.

Everyone was waiting for someone else to do something last night. Kadri was trying. But nothing was working.

I see what you did here and it made me laugh.

Well played sir.

Both our goalies are solid. Think we’re going to get a 50/50 tandem unless someone gets really hot.

I agree with you on scoronato. It’s pretty evident that he takes advice to heart and works on his weaknesses. Great to see. It will be awesome when it all starts to come together.

Kadri was offensively and defensively dominant this game.

Funny to see complaints about him.

6 high danger chances for and Zero against at even strength. By far the best on the team.
