My bad. Not saying they are a bad team. I’m sure they’ll bounce back from this start… what I meant was they have missed Kadri since they lost him and I’m wondering if they would pay the price to bring him back. Doubtful though. Since their cup run, they’ve really missed what Kadri, Landeskog and Nichuschkin brought to the team. Landeskog and Nichushkin should return at some point this season though. They are still a powerhouse.
As others brought up… it’s probably a moot point because they have brought in Middlestst and they have to plan for re-signing Rantanen this summer.

Whoah, why don't you relax?!?! Nothing was said to warrant such a disrespectful response. Take that crap to HF Boards.

Colorado looked like they would steamroll teams to the finals. The team came apart after the stuff with Valeri. You could hear in Makars voice that it impacted their run and he was pissed.
Everything went right for Edmonton. Everything.

Don't worry about it- yes, the Avs are in need of a goalie, and yes- they may be cap constrained, but I think they would LOVE help at every position, especially with the injury to an important player in Lehkonen, and the situation with Nichushkin. They have Mittlestadt, but he can't replace what Kadri brought to that team, and Drouin sure as hell can't either.
Plus, they gave up Byram to get Mittlestadt, and Girard has had his issues. If they want another cup run, they may have to make some tweaks.

He felt it necessary to say, "my bad" at the start of his reply. He's obviously a kind and modest person. Nothing he posted was bad enough to be told that his previous post "was nonsense".

They need a goalie. They have the offence and speed throughout the line up. They have the stars.
They play at such a frenetic pace that it’s probably hard to keep up all season and it leaves them open defensively.
They need a goalie.

That's just working a bias.
Trevling made a trade for a year and a half for Toffoli, and that asset was around to be dealt by Conroy.
You can't pick and choose.
But in this case what they gave up to get Toffoli vs a year and a half of his use + what they got to deal Toffoli is an asset win for the Flames, and that applies to two general managers.

They are kind of waiting prime years of their best players with dimestore goaltenders. If I was an owner I wouldn't be pleased with their approach to the position. Just because they did it once with Kuemper, doesn't mean it would be repeatable to go deep into the playoffs with backup level goaltending.

Georgiev was a good trade, he had a real good 1st season but has fallen off a cliff now.
I think they hoped for a bounce back season for him. They also have a bunch of injuries.
It's not like the Oilers with a full healthy roster getting lit up nightly.

To be fair, it's really difficult to hold a championship team together and upgrade all the aspects under the current system. You really need great timing where you have your star players in their prime with the up and coming guys on the cheap. After a few years, those up an coming guys all want to get paid and tough decisions have to be made.
Consistent goaltending is also pretty hard to come by. Losing Francouz was also a pretty big blow. Even if he hadn't developed into being a starter, he brought a lot of stability to the goaltending.

LeBrun says Conroy is a little confused as to why people think there will be a fire sale again this season.
Core veterans like Kadri, Weegar, and Coleman have contracts past this season.
Sees the veterans as wanting to be part of this roster transition.
Conroy doesn't want to tear it down to the studs, and sees those veterans as part of building the right culture in Calgary.

Yes after 3 wins and a lot of good energy Conroy is going to discuss a fire sale. That should go over well in the locker room.
Great reporting.

At the very least, the Flames playing well should keep any player wanting out from going public with their desire to leave, ala Zadorov.

Umm, yeah. GM with fun, motivated roster doesn't want to piss off the team AND tip his hand in the trade market. Great stuff, Lebrun.

I love the start, Conroy, and the Flames (always).
There is a sure fire path back to being the mediocre Flames of always/the Minnesota Wild, and I really hope we don’t go that route.
Mediocrity is not the destination.
Just keep building, and yeah…we’ll have fun along the way.
