If "in heaven" was the original post then whatever.
Not a fan of Frank and he straddles the line a lot which is part of what his success relies upon but I think it's good to keep the cancel button under a glass case with things these days instead of directly under finger.
If it seems like there's no way he is dumb enough to outright post that then trust your gut that there's a typo or it's being mis-represented.
If there's one thing more lame than Frank it's the judge jury and executioners of the internet going 0 to 100 in six seconds flat.
He should just leave Gaudreau out of his BJ pieces going forward though..

I'll admit I didn't read the article, but I've read the quotes and I'm really confused by the outrage on this.
When I read the quote I interpreted the statement such as, "the tragedy of the gaudreau deaths has touched the team and community, uniting them, possibly providing a galvanizing point for the team to focus on and dedicate the season to". Similar to how Vegas and their communities rallied around the shooting deaths in the city just prior to their cup run season. It was a theme for that team and city all through the year..
It seems everyone else has a different read on this though..

Look here sir...this isn't a Nuclear Launch, we dont need to turn both keys at the same time!
Although generally I agree.

I read it "the bad way" when I first came across it, but with a little thought it's clear he didn't have ill intentions. The correction didn't really make it all that better, but it's nothing to flip out over.
The professional thing to have done was not inject Gaudreau into the topic at all, especially if you seemingly lack the chops to make it clear in your writing what you had meant.
Frank's not all that great at what he does, but he isn't a ghoul.

I never get offended but this gives that third person embarrassment phenomena. Obviously he's trying to make a career in this and this is just dumb and potentially impacting to this. Like being caught masturbating. You idiot, watch your mouth you dummy. This is will clearly offend many.

No, he isn’t a ghoul but it doesn’t take a saint or a genius to realize that it’s probably a topic to avoid when talking about a bad team at this point in time

I honestly think he was trying to do a feel good "Johnny watching from above helps out his team that will likely struggle this year in his absence" thing.
That's it.
Not something I would do.
I'm not a big Seravalli fan.
But I think that's all this was about.

Here's the thing, and I think with a lot of other people.
I personally think you're right.
But for someone who writes for a living, he shouldnt have screwed it up this badly.
If that was his intention and his point? He missed it. Hard.
So...for people who read his work, and he is...a 'Professional' one would naturally think that he meant it as he said it, as, if he had another intention it would have been clearly spelled out.
Regardless, he's gotta take the 'L' on this one. He screwed this pooch.

Yeah a writer has to own wording.
And while I didn't see it for faux pas that many did, the fact that a large % of fans saw it another way is enough for me to see that he screwed up.
Honestly I was just trying to understand what I was missing as I landed my interpretation above in first reading.
I do think the planet has a need to jump on people without fulling vetting whether or not there was actually a foul though.

6 seconds? What took them so long?
CP outrage and solutions were done in half that time. We didn’t even have to read it!

The intentions probably meant no ill harm. But as others have mentioned, why take the risk? So many other ways to convey the message without bringing up a sensitive subject that broke the hockey world. People can be so dense and you would expect better from someone who has this type of platform.

I don't like Seravelli (as previously mentioned) but that was a good apology. No excuses, no 'but'. Fewer and fewer people know how to make a sincere apology these days, and prefer to hide behind excuses. Good on him for making it right (to people who misconstrued what he was saying).

Social media rewards the most outraged take. The people who are only mildly disappointed in this type of misstep usually don’t comment on it - only the outraged do. And they thank/share/boost each other’s outrage, so that becomes the collective response.

Well...and also...he is insinuating that the Spirit of Johnny Gaudreau is going to inspire Columbus to suck.
Thats...not a very positive message.

I truly think people get wet at the prospect of someone getting cancelled or sanctioned. Like watching a car accident. Triple wet if they don't care for the person to begin with.
