While I’d be happy to see fewer preseason games, I’m definitely not a fan of extending the regular season. Not only does it run too long, the point system keeps false hope alive longer than necessary. Pipe dream, I know, but a 70-72 game season would feel way less like the season dragged out so much.

It's 2 games, this isn't adding weeks to the season. THey can play those 2 games in 4-5 days. Or add an additional back to back, of course not for the Oilers though.

I’m saying 82 is already too many.

I know both the NHL and NHLPA will never agree to shorten the season, but man, would a 72 game season ever be more interesting than what we have now...so many mid-season filler games. (Even the players say that it’s hard to get up for many of those.)

Would those same players take a 13% pay cut to reduce the schedule? Doubt it.

Scrap preseason all together . Let team organize their own off site friendlies in early sept and start the season mid sept

I’m aware. Which is why I said it’s a pipe dream as neither side would agree. Just would personally like to see fewer games.

Just fix it so hockey doesn't start before and end after the NBA season. Seriously why are they going from the start of October until the end of June.

NBA went 5 games the NHL went 7.

If the NBA finals went 7 it would have been NBA 23rd and NHL 24th.

The NBA also doesn't have a bye week that the NHLPA for some reason wanted when they get a week off during the All Star break, they get Christmas off while the NBA plays through the holidays.

If the players and fans want complain about the schedule going too long, maybe the players will have to give a little.

It’s genuinely absurd that they played eight preseason games.

That’s 10% of the whole season, for nothing. If you haven’t learned what you need to know after four preseason games, Maybe evaluating hockey players isn’t the job for you.
