I think the forwards will surprise, as will the defense to a point.
But when many bad nights from your goalies mean that the team doesn't trust them, and as a result you then have the team collapsing in front of them trying to block shots at any chance they get it filters down to no offense ; the transition game from the back goes away as they are in scramble mode, and the forwards don't get the puck in any sort of dangerous rush or position.

Healthy Vlad will have to prove himself a bonafide NHL goalie. Wolf will certainly have ups and downs.

Please print that list and show people and see if they call that a deep group of forwards.
A bunch of guys had career years last year as well. Do you see Weegar and Coleman scoring 55 goals?
We don’t know what Mantha or Kuzmenko yet. Zary and Pospisil should take some steps hopefully, but they won’t make up for the lack of skill.

Vladar has consistently getting worse every year. I understand he was injured last year but his GAA was 3.7 and .882 save %.
Regardless of the rebuild or not I was never a fan. He’s why I have a lot of hope
That he will sink our season and get a top pick.

Healthy Vlad has all the opportunity 2 seasons ago with Markstrom's terrible year. He was atrocious.
If this surgery rehab hasn't changed his mechanics and he still makes himself as small as a 6'7 goalie can get, and continue to have pucks going over him and under the cross bar, it will be a long year. Jury is out on Wolf hut why would he change his scrambly style now?
Given Vladar' s contract, and just in general, ifthe Flames are playing well enough to win, but are getting constantly beaten by bad goals (goalie's fault goals), I can see the Flames taking a run at a vet goalie, to give the roster a boost of hope and confidence, and a more experienced on ice partner for Wolf.

What skill did they lose up front? Lindholm certainly wasn't playing with much skill here last season...nor was Mangi
Kuz/Mantha will bring more skill to the PP...Kuz already did, it was night and day.
I also see them dipping into the waiver wire with all this cap space

Agreed, they have a billion dollars in cap space, they aren't just going to get lit up every night for 82 games with Conroy turning a blind eye. If needed they will bring in a vet goalie.

Jury is out on Mantha. Kuzmenko let’s see what he can do. I hope they score 4-3 and 5-4 losses so we can send them packing at the deadline.
You’re underrating how bad the goaltending will be Vladar is t good and Wolf is a rookie.

Not even getting lit up...team playing up tempo, 4 lines rolling and outworking the opponent, tied going into the third. And then a below average goal goes in with 7 mins to go and it's lights out....if that's a constant theme, Conroy owes it to the fans and more importantly the roster, to fix the problem if it's that simple and obvious a change.

I think the Flames understand they need to take their lumps now to get better later.
If we wanted a goalie he would have signed one. He’s not spending draft capital on goalies. He’s been pretty clear what is required to get him to move a pick.

Dustin Wolf will turn 24 this season...if he is ridiculously bad the Flames need to start looking for a goalie
Bahl, Bean, Barrie, is a major upgrade to what they finished last season with (again low bar)
There is not point in arguing...I really don't think they are bottom 3 and I doubt they are bottom 5 although with a major selloff at the deadline they may slide into that range.
The Flames last season with all those amazing players that wanted retirement contracts started 2-7-1, I wouldn't be shocked at all if this team started better. No pressure and no distractions.

I don’t think Wolf will be bad. I’m counting on Vladar playing on his knees and getting scored top corner.
He’s been a disaster the last 2 years.

Don’t know if this scenario plays out. I just don’t see Conroy trading for a goalie

If Vladar is as bad as you say they aren't just going to allow the team to get pumped every night. With cap space finding a serviceable goalie isn't all that hard

The team in front of him sucks, getting a goalies won’t fix that. They just need to shelter Wolf so his confidence isn’t ruined.
The worst thing that could happen would be goalies stealing games when we are being outplayed. That’s why Vladar is perfect.

Waiver wire or future considerations. Aren't trading for Bobrovski, just someone who's proven that can be trusted to start games to give the skaters a fighting chance, if that's the main obviously issue with that team, which it may not be.
Who knows, maybe Vladar keeps them in games and then the conversation goes to extending him or trading him at the deadline for a desirable return.

If he gets us Hagens I think we should extend him lol. We will need him for McKenna.

Flames are going to reasonably try and win...they won't be purposely losing much the the chagrin of CP. If the goalie(s) are getting lit up they will make a move.

Never said they will throw games. They are pros a compete. It’s just not a good roster.

If our forward group can learn to backcheck and give our poor D time and space to get out of our end quicker and efficiently we should be okay.
Your telling me the D in Edmonton is better by miles than us and they went to the cup final last year and are gonna win it all this year.?
That kool-aid is so strong up there we must be getting drunk off the fumes.
Wolf will be fine . Let him see the puck and dont be playing hero so much trying to help him and we wont see pinball goals off of bodies in front. I think IGnatjew might be a surprise we see helping us sooner than later as Craig's interview yesterday expressed him being very impressed and surprisingly so.
I see more than the doom gloom and hope for a tank. I hear our vets being very optimistic. Im excited for this season. Will we be bad.? Maybe initially.
Theres allot to be happy about.
