It's also shot in a way we will likely never see again. Real time in cockpit shot pushing hard G's on actors.
I know all flying shots weren't real time but to give casual viewers who never really have paid attention to things like what hard G's can do to a human it was very eye opening.
The cinematography was once in a lifetime. And that warrants points to be being better than the O.G.
Again...I dislike Tom Cruise for many reasons, but nobody and I mean NOBODY other than him could have sold that movie.
Its not 'hot-awesome' but it was a TON of goddamned fun.
They knew what they were going for. They knew what they promised. They hit their beats and they delivered.
I dont know what more people can want or ask for.
It was a product that was delivered 'as advertised.'
I didnt even have time to roll my eyes at the 'cheesieness' of it. You got exactly what you signed up for, if not MORE!
Sorry. Thats a good movie.
If you came in expecting 'Citizen Kane' then you came to the wrong film.
"We're going to fly jet planes and blow #### up!"
Yes. Very well then. Go about your business. I'm here for it. Thats what I came for.

Great choice, I absolutely loved Tron: Legacy. I thought the casting was terrific, and the graphics / take on the Tron universe were super fun and creative. Daft Punk doing the soundtrack was just the cherry on top as well; one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever done IMO. Fun fact: that the city in the background at the end of the show when they're on the motorbike is Vancouver.
We'll see how the next one, Tron: Ares, goes (I don't have high hopes), but I'm crossing my fingers its treated well. Nine Inch Nails is doing the soundtrack for this one.

I like Temple of Doom better, or at least as much as Raiders. Granted, I saw Temple of Doom before I saw Raiders of the Lost Arc, so in my head Raider kind of was the second one.
Is it really a sequel though? Both films stand alone and the stories don't blend together. They just have the same main character.
If it counts as a sequel, then all James Bond movies should be sequels of each other which doesn't make sense to me.

Actually, chronologically it comes before Raiders, so technically it's a prequel.
Temple: 1935
Raiders: 1936
Crusade: 1938

I was going to say Young Guns II, because I love it. Immensely quotable and great soundtrack. So, I went back and watched Young Guns again, and man does that movie stand up. They are both great. I hope that Estevez does make the third one, as he says the script is ready.

Let me guess, philosophy major?
It’s the second movie released in the series, the actual plot timeline seems kind of irrelevant to me. I mean would you consider godfather 2 to be a “half” sequel because a big chunk of it takes place prior to the events of the first film building the back story of a character who already died? Just seems like splitting hairs to focus on the plot timelines in the film to determine if a movie should be considered a sequel given the purpose of this thread. I wouldn’t consider A New Hope to be a sequel to Revenge of the Sith but I would consider Rogue One to be a sequel to both.
There is an argument Back to the Future II is better than the original. It's at least as good.
While, I'd say Back to the Future is better than Back to the Future 2, I think Back to the Future 3 comes closer to the original in terms of overall movie quality.
