I think Podkolzin still has a chance to carve out a good NHL career if he gets some consistency, but I think the Canucks realized it wasn't going to be with them. Moving him now gives the team a better asset back and additional flexibility in addressing other areas on the roster that need help.

I'd have preferred not Edmonton, but if theyre the only ones calling back, well, beggars can't be choosers.
He kind of reminds me of Klim Kostin. Highly touted when he was drafted but has never been able to play consistently in the NHL. Kostin has found a way to play but never at the level expected.

Not me. I was almost positive he was the one going back.

Look...part of the trade is not having to embroider the jersey! Do you know how much 'Zs' cost??

Zadorov trade also makes sense now. Recovering a Z.

Ofcourse I didn't want him to be included. The players I wanted to be included would be all the junk ones or long shot prospects. Why would I want a former 10th OA pick to be the thing included in a trade?

I am not overly excited that he was traded now. I understand why the team got to this point though.

You're reaching to try and paint my feelings as some sort of about face and this is your thing. I'm done with it. Good night, sweet prince.

I don't understand this trade at all.

Why trade an offensively talented former top 10 pick...to a division rival with elite talent that could potentially unlock that offensive talent...and only get a 4th round pick in return.

Honestly the Canucks should have taken a 5th from any other team in the NHL before they traded him for a 4th to the Oilers.

Canucks are getting annoying again. First they lay down and lose to them in the playoffs. Now give them a talented player who could possibly flourish with McDavid.

The Lindholm trade is our Doug Gilmour trade, but in reverse. I have no problem with the Canucks for a good 10 years.

4>5

It’s that simple.

Canucks wanted to move on and got the best draft pick they could.

Not trading with a division rival is overrated by fans.

Let's wait to see how Brz, Gridin and Jurmo turn out

And what Kuzmenko returns us at this deadline.

I think the fourth we traded down with, I can't remember who wound up being the other piece .. Misa?

Well the logic from the Canucks is that he isn't offensively talented at an NHL/North American professional level.

Remains to be seen. Getting stapled to McDavid's wing could certainly see that spark re-ignited, but there is a strong case to be made that he wasn't going to find his game in Vancouver so get what you can for him.

Or he could be the next PoolParty. Not every prospect playing with McDavid turns to gold. They have to actually have some talent as well.
