4th line guy. Two seasons of double-digit goals. Struggled last year in Tampa, though. Served an 18-game suspension once for domestic violence after having it reduced from 27.
Sounds like another guy we should leave for the Oilers.

I'm pretty familiar with him, as I was a big fan of his earlier in his career. When Lucic became an instant impact player for the Bruins, it kicked off a run of teams trying to draft "the next Lucic"in the first round- which included, for better or worse, guys like Mike McCarron, Tom Wilson, Watson, and many others.
Watson exploded in his draft year after being traded to Peterborough from Windsor, scoring 20 points in just 10 games, which led the Preds to take him in the first round of the 2010 draft, 18th overall. He spent 10 years in Nashville's system. IMO, he could've been more if he had've been given more opportunities, and didn't have to deal with so many injuries- he's 6'4", and can skate, and while he's not the best fighter in the world, he can provide toughness and physicality. In 2018-19, he managed 16 points in 37 games in another injury-ravaged season for the Preds.

If there's one thing Looch proved during his time in Calgary, it's that he doesn't scare anyone anymore.
I disagree. He may not have scared anyone on the Oilers, but if you ask any player on any team he's played for, they will tell you that he made everyone on the team feel much taller. In his last few seasons here, he was struggling to find dance partners. As a player, he declined rapidly, but he still provided a presence. I know I'll get flamed for this post.....

I don’t think it was he didn’t scare anyone. I think it was more no one wanted to fight him. He destroyed everyone so what was the point of getting destroyed in front of your teammates if your goal was to get them going.

As someone said above, some team in the East might give him a chance on a PTO, seeing the attention that Rempe has earned. By no means am I suggesting that enforcers are making a comeback, but it does seem that a lot of teams have a guy or two who can handle the heavyweights if need be.
He didn't deter anyone from taking liberties with our players.
I disagree, although it’s hard to prove something that didn’t happen. Like I said above, if you were to ask any of his teammates over the years, most of them would tell you that having him on their team made them feel taller.

Lucic lost all tough guy cred for me when he wouldn't fight the Oilers
To be fair, he did lay out McDavid with a good hit near the end of his tenure in Calgary which led to a scrum. It looked like Lucic wanted to fight but it was broken up before it could get going.
He did seem to play light against them a lot though.

What does playing taller mean?
Lucic doesn't scare anyone. Just skate away. Can't waste roster spots on pluggers like him.

Well, I’m not saying we should sign him or anything. Sure, you can skate away, but if he’s looking for retribution for a liberty taken against a teammate, he might just be looking to lay out one of your top guys. There’s plenty of ways a guy like him can get his pound of flesh without fighting.

How much goonery goes on now? It's a fast and skilled game, and teams are moving to having more of a skilled 4th line now instead of the old pluggers.
