I'm having a really hard time with 'Landman.'

On the one hand, most of it is BS. On the other Billy Bob Thornton is stealing the show. Then again, and I've mentioned this before...the female characters on this show seem like they are written and acted by people who have never actually met women before.

Its just such a mess but I keep watching.

There are lots of things I hate about Landman, but it is really easy to get into and mostly entertaining. Same with Tulsa King.

I have to watch Landman being in that industry. It is so ridiculous that it’s funny. All the women are vapid ‘tards. Total misrepresentation of actual Landmen. Should be called engineer not Landman. The dork kid just gets funding to drill a well somewhere and it’s a boomer. It must be if a doctor reads people in the internet about vaccines. Noooooo. That’s not how it works, not even close, how the hell did you come to that?

Landman is truly awful. It's also not that hard to watch.

Yes, new season of shows - Landman, Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King.
Tulsa King- Season finale today. Still fun to watch. Not as fun as first season or two.

Mayor of Kingstown- Dark and depressing as hell (does the sun ever shine in kingstown?), but probably my favourite. I love the prison vs. street politics.

Landman- I agree with all of the posters- I liked the majority of season 1, but season 2 so far is all the worst things about season 1 repeated. Not enjoying it.
I know nothing about the oil patch, so good to hear from people who know how it actually is. Probably similar to how real cowboying is vs. what you seen in Yellowstone.
As for characters... We get it- the daughter is as dumb as a post but pretty, the wife is crazy but pretty and is teaching the daughter entitlement because she is good looking. Writing is horrible there- the female characters are not likable, except for Demi Moore's hardass character. And don't get me started on Cooper's girlfriend. Her man dies last season horribly and she is right away looking for a man. Now Cooper is suddenly incredibly successful and worth $$$$ working long days.... and she is crying and leaves him. Good lord.

Mayor of Kingstown's latest season was excellent- Richard Brake was despicably awesome. Very intense and gritty Another solid season, in my books and really well done. That is definitely Sheridan's only great series running right now (the others are not very good). There will now be a fifth and final season.

The second season of Landman is absolutely awful. Billy Bob is the only good thing about the show, and even he is barely saving it this season. Season 1 was trashy, but entertaining. Season 2 is just trash- the annoying parts of season 1 are becoming a bigger part of the show. The wife and entitled daughter are extra over the top, the cardboard personality son and his whiny wife are worth a fast forward for all of their scenes.

This week's episode even threw in a bully-type character that antagonized the bubblehead daughter at college. Which would be fine, except the this angry character was non-binary, vegan, bitter, woke and had an unusual name. A very right wing stereotype, despite Sheridan's progressive views in some other areas (i.e Indigenous rights and culture). Just seemed like something thrown in to appease right-wing viewers.

Sam Elliot does improve it a bit, but nowhere near his 1883 character. Thank god it's almost over for the season. Bad second season.

The only other new Sheridan show on the horizon is the Kayce spinoff, Marshals on CBS starting in March. I liked the Kayce character on Yellowstone, but based on trailers, it looks like a very mediocre watered down law enforcement show. Low expectations for that one.

Agree on Mayor of Kingstown. Definitely my favourite. We are only a couple episodes into season 2 of Landman so I've been skimming over, but it seems my take on the first two episodes is correct for the whole season. Disappointing.

I think Sheridan has spread himself too thin with all these TV shows. I liked him better when he was making stuff like Sicario, Wind River, and Hell or High Water. The first three seasons of Yellowstone were pretty solid, and I liked 1883. But I don’t have much interest in any of his other shows.

Yeah, I just saw a trailer for that one and...it looks pretty lame.

More 'Cowboy Law Enforcement Cosplay.' Yee-haw...

How is Landman 8.2/10 on IMDB and 82% on RT?? Is it that entertaining, despite how the characters are writtten/portrayed?

How can a person create something as intense and interesting as Sicario, or as beautifully unapologetic as 1883 and then turn around and s### out something like 1923?

Here's a reel that pretty much perfectly sums up Landman

Too many irons in the fire, I guess.
