If that was the case I don't think he would have gone to the World Championship this spring.
He just seems to have some nights/periods/shifts, where he just doesn't seem to care, which I'm sure rubs the rest of the team the wrong way, causes rifts in the room, etc.

He lacks accountability. Always someone else's fault.

always crazy when a player is traded just before his NTC kicks in. I remember when Philly shipped out Mike Richards and Jeff Carter after they signed long-term deals ... I believe Carter had signed a 10 or 11 year deal and they traded him days before his NTC kicked in. To Columbus of all places! Brutal.

This isn’t Dubois not wanting LA, this is LA not wanting Dubois. He’s a horrible player that’s grossly overpaid. He makes Huberdeau look like a steal. He’s brutal.

That explains the "cancer in the room" rumours. Anyone who has worked with someone that is NEVER accountable knows how difficult it can be to be around.
People like that typically get visibly upset when called out and don't take direction well either. No way would I want them on a professional sports team.

What the hell is washington doing? They were not great last year and PLD makes it worse.
I've had a soft spot for washington since they did us all a favour and prevented Vegas (who I hated before they took out the oilers last year) from winning the Cup in their first year in 2018. I like players like Oshie and Ovie as well.
So to see this trade- eesh.

That was my least favourite coworker lol. No matter what trade he screwed up it was always someone else's fault.

Are the Caps the new dumbest team in the league?
What in the world are they trying to build there?
LA pulled off a miracle.

GMs being GMs. If somehow PLD turns it around in Washington it will be a steal.

I’m not adding anything but what a dumb gamble by Washington. How they got approval is crazy. Little chance of this working out for them. Wild. Suddenly Huberdeau has some level of value.

PLD is a complete beast when he is on. He dominates. Washington will get 5 beast-mode games a year out of this. The rest of the time he is just terrible. I am really curious if this kick in the pants won't set him straight. That's 3 organizations that have passed him like a hot potato. Buyout is next, and that's going to lose him a lot of cash. Washington has to be thinking that they can reach him even if other organizations couldn't. Will be interesting to see how this plays out, but I got my money on buyout.

I'd argue Dubois is a great asset for a rebuilding team to acquire for low acquisition cost. If you can rehabilitate him and if he can become a 60-80 point Center again within the next 2-3 seasons, and you then can shop a 29 year old Dubois who is coming off an 80 point season (as an example) you're going to be able to get a good return for him.
Markstrom's trade return this offseason after being deemed untradeable last season shows that GMs have short memories when it comes to impact positions.
|
That is a massive IF...he likely continues to suck and this is looked back upon as a terrible trade

PLD won't even be the league in 3 years; probably play in Europe or some new Saudi owned league.

Maybe Washington is hoping PLD will be motivated by the opportunity to help Ovi get the scoring record.

So were all of these teams holding off on trades hoping the Stanley Cup was awarded last night and then just said #### it?
