Why is there conversation about previous Oilers lottery picks in here. Gross, take it elsewhere!

Mods, scrub that gunk out.

Pretty ridiculous how some teams get all the fortune.

NJ has moved up three times in the past 7 drafts.. getting Hughes, Hischier, and Nemec.

Screw them.

I got a perch set up for the frog to watch the lottery with me. Just for once can we catch a break?

Just in case anyone wants to see which balls we need/want to come up.

The Calgary Flames have won the draft lottery and will pick 1st overall in the 2024 NHL Draft. The Edmonton Oilers will lose in 4 games to the Vancouver Canucks. Might as well go full bore.

They have to make a 30-minute show out of this and people are going to complain it's taking too long.

If the Flames aren't there at 9, then just talk to Conroy, I am sure he can fill the last 20 minutes.

I wonder if the show would be more fun if every 7 minutes, they revealed one ball. Then with that ball drawn they could break down what the "new odds" are for teams, which teams can no longer win, etc.

Are the Blackhawks still eligible to win the draft?
I though that there was a new rule that prevented a team from winning the first overall two/three/four years in a row.

That would make for a much better show. Keep everyone engaged until the last ball is drawn. No different then having real time odds like they do in poker.

Only down side I can see is if a couple combinations point to a team right away, but I am not sure if that is possible.

That would be way more fun but I doubt we see the ping pong ball machine actually drawing on live TV. There's tons of risk for the league in case of malfunction and the auditors would have many concerns.

Ball totals:

5. MTL: 170
6. UTA: 150 (-20)
7. OTT: 130 (-20)
8. SEA: 120 (-10)
9. CGY: 100 (-20)
10. NJD: 70 (-30)

I never noticed that before. Apparently, the difference between 7 and 8 (OTT and SEA) is only 5%.

SJS has 18.5%
CHI: 13.5% (drops 5%)
ANA: 11.5% (2%)
CBJ: 9.5% (2%)
MTL: 8.5% (1%)
UTA: 7.5% (1%)
OTT: 6.5% (1%)
SEA: 6% (0.5%)
CGY: 5% (1%)
NJD: 3.5% (1.5%)
BUF: 3% (0.5%)

...then it continues dropping 0.5% until PIT then drops 1% and the last two teams have no drop between them.

Did something happen with SEA and NJD? How come SEA drops 0.5 and NJD drops 1.5 (instead of both dropping 1%)?

The draw could still happen beforehand. It would probably have to because there'd be cases where the #2 overall team is the same as the #1 overall team and they have to redraw or a team ends up winning that can't win (like Chicago next year haha).
