But yeah, go Flames! Beat San Jose and grab that 11th pick from Buffalo. I'm indoctrinated!

Specifically what do you want the players to do during a game to make this happen?

What do you specifically want the coaches to do?

I wonder if Ryan Smith had to foot the bill for the past few nights hotel, meals, and charter flight home for the Coyotes. Otherwise they might have spent the last two nights at rest stops on Hiway 2 in a stolen school bus.

Play 1-3-1 with the puck and have somebody hold it behind the net. Then get when they get chased out of there, dump it in and have everybody in the neutral zone.

In other words, lose.

Play like they did in the first St. Louis game this year, when they had every incentive to win and totally didn't care.

Not a single person has legitimately suggested the players should give up. You made that up.

But that doesn’t mean fans can’t be a bit miffed when they win a pointless game against a team they’re fighting for draft positioning with. I’m not about to pretend I’m happy they won because frankly, I’m not.

You can both want them to lose and want the players to play hard at the same time. And if you feel you can claim some moral superiority over me because I’d rather they lose at this point be my guest.

They won 6-5.

Any game you can win 6-5 could have just as easily been lost 6-5.

It wasn’t their night.

Pretty happy with the win, and I have some good news for team tank:

Since 2003 the picks made with the 9th overall pick were better than the 8th, you be the judge:

Top talent 8th: W. Nylander, Werenski, Couturier, Mittelstadt, Ristolainen, Boedker, Coburn, Setoguci

Top talent 9th: Sergachev, D. Hamilton, Meier, Horvat, Couture, Phaneuf, Ehlers, Trouba, Bailey, Granlund, Zegras

This team is too good to be in the bottom 10 but not good enough to be a contender - sheeeeit, this is like Ground Hog Day! Someone shoot that rat! Flames are stuck in eternal purgatory!

Clicks into a thread labeled "whine about the tank here" and gets mad about people whining about the tank.

Haha wow

You literally want the coaches to instruct the players to clearly give up on the games and tank.

Wild. Like really bat poop wild.

It makes me curious how people think the team on the ice, feels any connection to draft picks they won't even probably be playing with in many cases. Like yeah we'll purposely go out and lose, and maybe effect our agents ability to get a better deal for us, so that the Flames organization can have a better player in 3-4 years, who we likely aren't playing with.

You know, except for Huberdeau.

God I forgot how bad cp gets in the down years. 2010 to 2018 was pretty bad here. Least we got 2 -3 years good here since then. Hopefully this go round our scouting staff is better because they missed alot in that 8 year time frame. Then on the couple they got the gm mishandled and they took off . At the beginning of the last rebuild we joked the retirement home of the nhl and it looks like that's Happening again.

Buckle up people. We are going through the young guns area V3. You think 2 draft picks spots are going to hurt us? We got 3 to 8 years of hurt to look foreward to again . This game doesn't matter in the long run rookies......

Hi Ryan

Yeah I’m gonna go ahead and have you to pat Duehr on the back every 2 minutes. Make sure that he flips the puck high into the opposing zone every time. And trust me, coaching players to be useless and lose won’t impact your current or future employment. Nor will you lose a minute of sleep about the lack of personal accomplishment you’ll feel as an NHL coach purposefully instructing his players to lose hockey games.

Lol, we could be going for 11th. I just don't have it in me to make a big deal out of it. All I can do is cheer for the Flames to make the most of it.

I think passionate fans are awesome, but getting upset over small things they can't control, and that don't really impact their lives just seems counterproductive.

There's literally people in the game thread telling them to stop scoring.

Nobody at the bottom is "fighting" for draft position. They're playing out the season and wherever they finish they finish.

Like many have said, players don't care about draft position when they might not ever play with that player. Especially the players who might end up losing their spot to that player.

Exactly, and that's why I don't care about them either. I'm hoping for the Flames to win, not Kuzmenko to run around with 6 million bucks.

People act like the guy is Steve Yzerman if only we give him a chance.

People act like he's an entertaining hockey player, and one of the few on the team who are good at scoring goals. I have yet to see any post comparing him to Yzerman, or suggesting that the Flames should offer him $6 million.

As so often happens, you are arguing with a figment of your imagination.

These last games vs non playoff teams are like non contact scrimmages. Wonder if that will be the case vs Vancouver
