I think we'd better make peace with the reality that next season is going to suuuuuuck....

Great night for Team Tank
  • 10th - Pittsburgh wins: 1 point up (11 games remaining)
  • 9th - Flames lose (11 GR)
  • 8th - Seattle wins: Tied in points (11 GR)
  • 7th - Montreal wins: 5 points back (11 GR)
  • 6th - Arizona wins: 6 points back (10 GR)
  • 5th - Ottawa didn't play: 7 points back (12 GR)

8th overall is a real possibility. 7th or 6th have an outside chance. 5th would require Montreal, Ottawa, and Arizona to all go on big streaks to end the season. 4th is basically impossible and top-3 is impossible (but top-2 requires lotto luck anyway).

I'm okay with the loses while we reset.

I hate the fact that I may have to watch Huberdeau for 7 more years on this team

Agreed. Hopefully he can just keep a smile and be a good teammate because that's all that's left.

Not really. As another poster mentioned, even with the Vets looking to cash in, this team sucked.

All we can really do is hope that by not wrapping more boat-anchor contracts around this team's neck we hopefully won't suck for quite as long.

By season you mean decade, or always. Win the right lottery or abandon ship.

I would agree with all this except there is a real possibility we start winning with teams dangerously close. Seattle is possible but they have the (loser) tiebreaker, and Montreal/Arizona/Ottawa are just as much of a dream as getting into the playoffs, in my opinion.

It shows how far Calgary is from having a competing roster.

And the best way to improve that is by getting high draft picks.

But Calgary lost earlier in the year when Bedard initially got injured.

In the 1-0 win, Marky had to stand on his head.

great result. I know, I know, "don't cheer for losses" and all of that ... but #### it, give me all the Ls and improve that pick.

By lost 7 pounds does he mean that Michaels sounds like a man ####ting out his entire colon whenever he embarrasses himself with his goal calls? Because that’s the only interpretation that makes sense to me.
His brain weighs nowhere near 7 lbs.

At this stage I have no issue hoping for losses. I think once the writing is on the wall and you have suffered as long as the Flames have with the mucky middle, cheering to get top 10 draft picks is perfectly acceptable.

If you are a dump organization like the Oilers or Buffalo and you start to cheer for losses before the season even begins, then yes you are a loser and that's no good. But literally decades of being in the middle and rarely gaining any kind of elite talent, you're damn straight I will cheer to get a top 10 pick at this moment in time.

I was going to say. That Huberdeau contract is horrible. Maybe the worst in the league.

I don't think there is a maybe at this point. I can't name one contract I wouldn't trade his for.

What a great first Flames NHL-game to see from the stands, haha. Came all the way from Finland to Chicago. Will probably plan my next trip to Calgary in future.
