Hanley is an upgrade on Oestrele.

Hopefully we can send Oestrele down and eventually play Porier, Solo or Kuznetsov on the bottoming pair with ocasionally seeing Hanley.

He is a good 7th dman

He's actually played a fair number of playoff games for them over the years. Nothing particularly exciting but we will need warm bodies on the back-end and typically those 7-8 guys can flounder if they are handed a job. This way they will all still need to battle to stay in the lineup.

I was hoping for this to happen. Hanley is a good enough #6/7 and the flames need a body for the next while. He is a cheap serviceable option.

He's top six in this patchwork defence, especially after Hanifin is gone. If anything, this pushes down the likes of Gilbert and/or Oesterle to the No. 7.

Hershey bringing in all the ringers if he can go down. They are already the best team in the AHL and just got Kuznetsov and could have Phillips.
